Southern Living is running a poll for Best Ribs In The South. There are quite a few RF favs listed and a few notable absences, (no Bob Sykes ). So far Corkies is leading the poll. Get your votes in early!

I couldn't vote because Brick Pit wasn't on the list.

There are more than one 'write-in' votes for the BRICK PIT in Mobile, AL.  Go back into the link and do a write-in in the comments section.

TOO BAD they gave the SHED's Ribs a vote... I thought they were really mushy and boiled in the sauce. I Rate them a 2 on a 10 point scale.

You don't have to vote for just one. You do get to vote for up to 5. I didn't manage 5 from their list, 'cause they didn't have all of my favourites listed. I did manage to get a vote in for Big Bob Gibson's, tho.

I'm glad to see that Southern Soul is now in the lead, but that list is full of wrong without Leonard's in Memphis on it.

Like Poverty Pete and will_work_for_bbq, my favorite place for pork ribs is Archibald's in Northport, AL.  They are considerably better than that other place across the river.

McClard's in Hot Springs is another favorite.

By the way, my bad. Called The Shed, The Yard. I guess the memory was not good. But-give kudos to Al for finding it based on memory......lol! Best part? Sweet potato casserole and collard greens. And, Mike S. and Poverty Pete for meeting us there for fun. Its the experience I had, not always the food......

I love the South, grew up there and ate a lot of ribs in the 13 states that comprise the region. I now live in Texas, a wonderful place with many charms, but we ain't The South-not by a long shot.

Archibald's puts out the best rib platter I ever ate. Texas, near The South, also has many fine rib joints, John Mueller Smoked Meat Company is the king around here with 1lb beef ribs that will melt your mind.

Roz and I are gonna take a trip to Huntsville to the Dreamland for their ribs perhaps this weekend or the next.  They do not smoke their ribs but grills them and the last time we got them hot off the grill, they were great.  WSe are looking forward to a 180 mile trip there in the Miata with the top down weather permitting.  The sauce is outstanding.

The drive through the grand canyon of Chattanooga is wonderful.

We hit Dreamland just about every time we're in town. It's just one of those must do stops. They may be my favourite ribs.
Just so people who aren't familiar are clear, they slow cook them (Grill would suggest faster, hotter cooking IMO) over a hard wood fire. They're about 2' above the fire.
Here is a video I did: http://youtu.be/r4DEjwl7obQ It's not great since I did it with my phone but it'll give you the idea.

When I last visited Dreamland, they told me that they cooked their ribs a bout 45 minutes.  Regardless, their ribs are very good and their sauce is also.

Never 'met' a rib I didn't eat and love, though some I had to 'lube' with sauce.

Although it wasn't listed, Pecan Lodge in Dallas serves up some mighty fine mesquite smoked pork ribs.

Oh So Good in Oneonta, AL would get my vote, if it was on the list. I live 10 mins. from Dreamland and drive 40 mins. for Oh So Good.
