mr chips-
No hurt feelings here.  And I agree, it would be great if more people used this thread.  Now, about TTM keeping his list up to date.....

Much to your (perhaps sole) happiness, the long-awaited update is done. Added over 120 new places - to make over 400 total now. You have as good a shot as any to tell me which ones I missed! :-)

TTM

I just noticed your updated list and some of the restaurnts listed I don't think were ever on the website or in the books...(Puerto Sagua in Miami and Cunneto's House of Pasta in St Louis) jumped out at me among others. It's all the same- I liked them both and they should be reviewed..

I may complete a list of restaurants that I found on my own that should be on Roadfood....

I hope to update my list by the end of the week.

BTW I had no idea that the Magnolia Bar and Grill in Houston closed?

That's a shame....

FYI - Cunetto House of Pasta didn't get a review, but did get a mention, in Roadfood and Goodfood.

Since others have listed the Roadfood-reviewed restaurants that they've visited, I thought that I'd join in on the fun and do likewise. All of these places have been reviewed either on this site or one of the books written by the Sterns: Roadfood ( various editions ), Goodfood, A Taste of America, Eating Your Way Across the USA, and 500 Things to Eat Before it's Too Late. A next to a name means that the place is no more, and the various faces used to indicate favorites and major disappointments are pretty much self-explanatory. Here goes....

Wab, I'm looking forward to coming down your way next month so that we can share another great meal at Bib's in Winston-Salem. Fabulous ribs! While I'm in the Piedmont, I've got to check out the Galax Smokehouse, as I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Update: Galax Smokehouse was a major disappointment... just awful.

Impressive list, Bob. I don't track which restaurants I have visited against any Roadfood list and my memory couldn't remember them all anyway. But I don't think I come close.

WJ and BB also has quite a list.  I am like Davydd, I cannot remember all I have been to.  I do not make list but I have been to several.

I'm curious as to why certain restaurants, that are mentioned fairly frequently on this website and usually in positive terms, have never been reviewed and received "official" Roadfood status. Three that come to mind are Troni's Pizza in the Dayton area, Knockum Hill BBQ in Herndon KY, and Tessaro's in Pittsburgh.  I've enjoyed meals at all three ( Knockum Hill is especially good ) and I'm a bit surprised that no one's reviewed them yet. Have I managed to miss a review somewhere?

Glad you decided to post you list CB.  Unfortunately, the great Jo-Jo's here in Pittsburgh recently closed down.  As for the other three places you mentioned, none of them have ever had an official Roadfood review written.  You can certainly blame me for Tessaro's and it is on my list of places to review.

Just returned from my final "big trip" of the year (trip report to follow) however it will likely take painstackingly long to complete because I have other things to do.

I'll likely update my list after the CT bus trip since anything I do afterwards will be few and far between for the rest of the year.

WJ-
I noticed you don't take any notes during your trips.  How you remember all of that during a week long trip is beyond me.  I just did the long weekend and the meals seem to have all run together.

You know me, I never take notes. I always remember what I really liked (and what I really didn't like) that being said, there will allways be a better desciption of my very good experiences and my not so good ones it's probably why I don't go into specifics when describing my meals. And in case I forget something specific, my photos always jog my memory.

Well, you certainly have a better memory than me.  Some things, like the name of the town where the sweet potatoes we ate at Jim Stalvey's come from, I have to write down!

Cliff, the news about Jo Jo's ruined what was an otherwise pretty good day. You probably remember how I fell in love with the place when we were there a couple of years ago. As good as breakfast was, what really got me was the classic 1950s feel of Jo Jo's; it brought back memories of the kind of places my family stopped at on our roadtrips when I was a kid ( back in those wonderful pre-interstate days. ) I'm sure the new restaurant that's going in there will be a poor replacement.

I've updated my lists to include places on the Oregon Coast and the Willamette valley whose reviews have been added to the website in the last few months/

It's been a busy month. Wife trudyn and I travelled to Seattle this weekend for King  Tut and ate at 5 different places that are mentioned in the 500 things book the Sterns wrote.

I recently pointed out to my girlfriend that she is quickly approaching 500 Roadfood places visited.  Her reaction?  "How embarrassing!"
