Can't find this piece of hardware - help - Fri, 05/3/13 9:37 AM

Hey everyone.... I'm having a tough time finding this little piece of hardware that I need for my icebox. Local big box hardware stores don't carry it. The "catch" part of the clasp seems unique since it sits on top. I'm sure it's something I can order online but I've googled every word I can think of that will take me there with no luck...

Have you checked this place out?  They seem to have a really wide variety (literally hundreds) of clasps, some that might be able to be bent so you could use them.

So I found something really similar at my local kind- of-specialty hardware store except the "catch" is not at a 90 degree angle... I'm starting to think they bought a reg one and bent it... Good call 6 star! I bought a couple.... I'll see if I can bend them tomorrow without breaking it. The ice cream trike should be nearly complete by this weekend! Waiting on logo to be finished so I can get some signs made.

Well I tried to bend a non 90 degree piece of hardware and it didn't work so I'm definitely interested in that part Wild Dog.....

Ha Sillydogz...funny you should mention that!  I didn't think it was going to be a problem....my sis tried to tell me that it would.  You can't see it but there is a support bar pretty far back underneath the box.

Having said that, it will get tippy.  I'll try and load it as far forward as possible but I started designing a kickstand of sorts today.  Of course when I'm on the trike, no worries.  I'm designing it so I can kick it down as I'm getting off the trike...hope it will work!  I'll keep you posted!

Ha...gotta have bells!  I have an actual ice cream bell (4 bells in a row attached to a metal strap) on order but the company that makes them is having a problem with their riveting machine so hopefully they will get here before I hit the streets.  They are a true ice cream bell and I think...not positive...but I think they always ring based on movement so I'll be bell ringing freak!  ha ha

Kevin,
Put a 1000 lb barbell across the handle-bars or hang 50 or so lbs of hot dogs off the handle-bars. Lol!
Couldn't pass this up!

How is it powered? Or is it just ice?  Also let me know once you fire it up if it makes decent money. I saw a few hispanics do that cart around downtown here.

Yeah!  hot dogs on the handle bars!  Ha ha...

Will Do Bobby...I think it should do pretty well.  Dry ice will keep things cold...I've lined the inside with foam board and have weatherstripping around all of the hatches.  This week I'll do some testing...actually buy some dry ice and some ice cream and see how things go...I'm a bit nervous!

You could put a fat monkey on the handle bars and teach him to make change.
