The French have a far lesser rate of heart disease and ovesity than we do. They eat many rich foods. Perhaps the difference is the benefit they get from frequent drinking of red wine, something we know is healthful in moderation. Also, the portions they eat tend to be smaller than what Americans eat.
And on the political references, it reminds me of my personal experience. I was on a cruise last summer that stopped at Le Havre. We kept hearing people say they refused to "get off" in France. Their loss. We Americans have an inalienable right to Escargots Bourgignon, so I will eat yours if you won't eat French food. Thanks!
