Michael, I have never had Graeter's fresh peach ice cream. Mostly because I can't quit buying the black raspberry chip! My eyes will be peeled for the peach. Thanks for the tip!

Just picked up a pint of Mocha Chip, because the store didn't carry Black Raspberry Chip.  Not disappointed in the least.  But I'd sure like to try that Peach!

I guess I should have asked the question, is the Peach only available at Graeter's stores, or can you buy it in pints at the grocery store?  I'll be in Cleveland June 6-9.  If they sell it in pints, I should be able to find it at a Heinen's store.  Otherwise, I'm out of luck.

I'll look for it at the store.

Our local Chicago area grocers started carrying Graeter's about a year ago, but with a limited selection.  They've got more to choose from at the Cleveland stores, but I won't have anyone with me to help eat the whole pint.

Oh, wait.  Maybe that's a good thing...

You need help eating a whole pint of Graeter's ice cream?  We bought two pints yesterday.....his and hers.  But I think half of his will quickly become mine

I need help finishing the pint because I usually eat it before dinner, and don't want to completely spoil my appetite before bellying up to the cafeteria line at Sokolowski's University Inn.  buffetbuster has been there to aid and abet in the past, but I haven't yet formally announced this trip and don't know if he'll be there to pick up his end of the bargain.

I reckon I should get that thread started...

This past winter I got very attached to the 'Blueberry Pie' flavor Ice Cream...Now I will switch to the Peach, as it is my Summer favorite  when it is in season.   I do like the Mocha Chip very much also.

Whatever flavor you prefer, have it in a Graeter's pretzel cone.  The salted pretzel works especially well with chocolate flavors.

I never get it in a cone, I have a hard time finishing one scoop in a dish, while MH has TWO scoops in a dish and usually finishes my last two spoonfulls.  I might try the pretzel cone the next time!

You folks have got me wanting to try some of their product.  They only sell in two food stores in Knoxville and I doubt if they have the peach but I am gonna find out today.

Paul,
Even if they don't have the peach, you won't go wrong with any Graeter's product.  Any of their "chip" ice creams will make you happy.  I'm particularly fond (as is buffetbuster, and many others) of their Black Raspberry Chip.  As stated upthread, I'm currently working on a pint of Mocha Chip that is outstanding.

Graeter's uses a unique process for creating their Chocolate Chip products.  Unlike most commercial chocolate chip ice creams, where the chips are hard, tasteless shards of low grade chocolate, Graeter's chips are soft pliable chunks, sometimes as big as silver dollars, with deep, rich flavor.

Graeter's ain't cheap, mind you; it sells for about five bucks a pint around here.  Not your "everyday" ice cream, but  a worthwhile, occasional treat.

I may be weird or something, but I like to pick up an extra pint of one of my seasonal favorites, and toss it in the freezer.
There's nothing like savoring a taste of something you love, in my case, eggnog in July, or peach in the depths of winter.

I spoke with one of the store managers, and he said that if you don't break the seal of the lid, the ice cream will be good till the date stamped on the bottom. Usually quite a long time.

I limit my hoarding to just one pint, otherwise it wouldn't be special anymore.

Right now, my schedule revolves around watching the NHL playoffs.  I left every weekend in June open just in case my team makes it all the way to the finals.  But, a day trip up to Cleveland is definitely a possibility.

lleechef, I've never seen the Graeters Blueberry Pie in Dallas. I'd buy it in a second if I ever see it.

Michael, I tend to agree with you regarding the "chips". Like you, I'd prefer not to have them. But, there is only one group of stores in Dallas that stocks Graeter's. That being Kroger stores. So, I'm lucky to get what I can.

It still amazes me that Graeter's still hand packs each and every pint that leaves their facility and it is made in 2 gallon batches.

That's a lot of hands on no wonder its $40.00+ a gallon.

I have had several pints of peach, and the kroger guy said that blueberry pie should be back out in June.

I love living in the cincy area for ice cream.

...I'm not fond of the version with chips. Then again, I don't care for any ice cream that includes pieces of chocolate.
That might be because of the quality of the chips in other Chocolate Chip Ice Creams.  As I mentioned above, the process for getting Chocolate Chips into Graeter's Ice Cream is totally different from any other commercial product:

"Graeter's uses a unique process for creating their Chocolate Chip products.  Unlike most commercial chocolate chip ice creams, where the chips are hard, tasteless shards of low grade chocolate, Graeter's chips are soft pliable chunks, sometimes as big as silver dollars, with deep, rich flavor."

Generally I agree with your distaste for Chocolate Chips in my Ice Cream, but Graeter's is so radically different, and of such high quality, I'm willing to make an exception.

Graeter's "Chips" are more flakes, they pour liquid chocolate into the rotating french pot and as the paddles scrape the sides of the pot the "chips" are formed, so they are never the same size or shape.

We stopped at the New Albany, IN Graeter's yesterday. Jan  got a single-scoop of Toffee Chip. I got a single of Blueberry Pie. Both of us got the Waffle cones. These folks did not have the Fresh Peach flavor yet.  AND The Pretzel Waffle Cones are no longer available (at least at this store).

Spent the day at the Heinen's in Shaker Heights.  Checked out the freezer case when I was ready to leave.  No peach, but they did have Blueberry Pie.  Thought about picking up a pint, but faced the dilemma of needing to finish off a pint all by myself, just before dinner.  Plus there's no freezer in my hotel room, so it was a matter of polishing it off, or tossing the remainder in the trash.  I just couldn't live with myself if that happened.

BTW, Graeter's is not the most expensive Ice Cream in the grocery store.  They had pints of Jeni's Ice Cream (icecreamchick's fave) for $9.99 each!

The search for Peach continues on Friday!

Still on a graeters watch our two local Krogers do not have the peach flavor yet, but the Graeters near UC did have it in stock, 2 scoops on a waffle cone.

Must make room in my freezer (just having gotten 60 totino pizzas)
(Hey Krogers was giving them away today and at twice the fuel points) (they were 10 pizzas for $10.00 and with a purchase of 5 you got $5.00 back) so 20 pizzas fro $20.00 and 4 x $5.00 coupon back at the register and fri sat sun every purchase @ krogers is double fuel points so they are giving me free gas to besides the free pizzas)

We went to Graeters tonight for my daughters report card, all A's , hers was free , ours were not. On Fathers Day it is ugly tie day , 1 ugly tie = 1 free scoop.
The lady behind the counter said Peach was coming soon, they will display a large banner when it arrives. I tried the Salted Caramel , it was pretty good.

Thanks Annie!  We went up to Utica to Velvet ice cream to sit out by the water wheel (it was a grist mill in 1871) and the pond where there are ducks, geese and swans.  I had sea salt caramel in a waffle cone and MH had boring vanilla.  The free sundae at Graeter's is good until the 21st.  We will go tomorrow or Monday before departing on our mini-Roadfood trip next week!

Had my free sundae at Graeter's today, I got a Turtle Sundae.  It was very good.........vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate and butterscotch sauces with a plethora of pecans, whipped cream and a cherry.  I could not finish it.....too sweet for me.  I prefer my one scoop of peach in a cup!  MH did not get boring vanilla he had black cherry.  It's delicious too!

Minor question Lisa:  Why did you get the Turtle when you knew it would be sweet and you knew Graeters peach was voted in the top ten in the USA????.

Somehow it does not sound like you.  Maybe you ordered under duress???

It is available at only one store that I know of up here. I've had it a few times, but never the peach. I don't find it to be any better than the other super premiums, but I'll check out the peach if I can find it. The pints that we get here are, "Made under the authority of....", so maybe it is not really the same stuff as is raved about here....

I must admit I am not a big fan of the 'chunky dark chocolate' in the 'chip' flavored ice creams. I Like their Strawberry and the Blueberry Pie. I live for the coming of the Peach flavor each summer. It is the best of all their seasonal flavors IMHO.
I wish we could get the basic 'chip flavors' without the chip-chunks. All three that I have had...Blk Raspberry, Toffee, and Mocha are fine ice creams without the chocolate added.

It is available at only one store that I know of up here. I've had it a few times, but never the peach. I don't find it to be any better than the other super premiums, but I'll check out the peach if I can find it. The pints that we get here are, "Made under the authority of....", so maybe it is not really the same stuff as is raved about here....

ALL Graeters ice cream is made herein Cincinnati, and made 2 gallons at a time, then each pint is hand packed, before it gets deep frozen.  They just expanded their production facility here and it is a marvel to behold the new place compared to the older processing plant.

Went to Krogers in Harrison last night and BINGO they had fresh peach @ $4.99/pint.  However I still had my $5.00 cash back coupons from the free pizza they were giving away last week, and it was on ONE DAY SALE for 2 for $8.00.

I got 4 pints and even cash back woo hoo

I ate one last night when i got home and about half way through the pint I hit something SOLID I thought "oh good the center of the ice cream is still frozen rock solid (from the 20 minute drive home)

NOPE - I dug the solid chunk out, IT WAS A WHOLE HALF PEACH
I think they missed that one when processing the peaches.  It was a very pleasant surprise and packed a real peachy flavor to go with the peach ice cream.

I bought some yesterday due to this thread and it did not disappoint. Very good although a bit expensive in my opinion, but still good. I'm bummed though as I couldnt find the blueberry pie. Maybe its not in season yet.

Don't feel so bad. In Dallas, I've yet to see either Blueberry Pie or, Peach.
Btw, A pint of Graeter's at Kroger's in Dallas costs $4.49. How much in Wellsburg?
