Dining Options in Nashville, Indiana, Summer 2013? - Thu, 06/6/13 5:38 PM

We will be staying at the Abe Martin lodge in the state park for three days. What can denizens here recommend for great dining options in the immediate area? We'd really prefer to minimize the driving so we're not too interested in 1+ hour trips for eats.
We're going around July 4th.

I've read some critique of the finer dining options in the area as not being as good as the prices would indicate. And I rely on Urbanspoon which is telling me that most places around there score in the low 80% approval or lower... which is not a good thing. So, we're needing some "boots on the ground" opinions.

Thanks in advance.

When I mentioned on here, probably a couple years back, that Gnaw Bone Food & Fuel had gone out of business, someone responded that they had re-opened with a new name, but the same great fried pork tenderloin sandwich. I was there when it was Gnaw Bone Food & Fuel and can testify that it was a great sandwich. You won't get much in the way of atmosphere there though if that matters to you. It's a service station.  Hopefully someone else can fill in the information in terms of the current name or even if it does still exist.

And this place in Columbus, IN is supposed to be quite the experience. I intend to get there later this year when my wife and I visit friends in Bloomington:  www.zaharakos.com/

I haven't been there but my parents really like Hobnob Corner. They go all the time and say the pot roast is one of their favorites.

phlmaestro-
I was just in Nashville, IN in April and ate at what is now called Gnaw Mart.  This is the same owner as the previous Gnaw Bone Food & Fuel and it is still located in a gas station.

Not much of a menu,

but the tenderloin is worth seeking out.

Certainly not the best I have ever had, but still very enjoyable.

And 100% agree with the Zaharako's recommendation.  This was my first visit since the remodeling and it is indeed gorgeous!

Thanks, Buffetbuster. I'll see if I can fit a stop off there when I'm in the area in a couple months.

Thanks for the suggestions.

In that area, can anyone recommend: great slow smoked BBQ; and great fried chicken?

It looks like Nashville is a little under an hour from Gray Brothers Cafeteria, which has very good fried chicken, among other things, including great pie:  http://www.roadfood.com/R...ray-brothers-cafeteria
