Tiger Red was my favorite pop when I was a little kid. A fried baloney sandwich paired with a heavy glass bottle of Tiger Red soda pop and a bag of Grippos potato chips made a very fine southeast Kentucky repast for me as a child.

Is this wonderful beverage still in production?

Pretty sure Tiger Red didn't make it out of the Seventies or at the very latest the early Eighties.  It was one of two"bargain" sodas (along with "Checkers Cola") bottled by Royal Crown and sold in the KY/TN/VA/NC four state area and a few other markets with the tagline "Good as the best yet costs you less."  Coca Cola had a competitor "Red Lightning" around that same time period.  Both were knock-offs of the more widely distributed "Big Red" soda, which still is being bottled today.  All three purport to be a red cream soda, but all I ever tasted was a sickly-sweet bubblegum flavor.

I never had Tiger Red but I have had my share of fried baloney sandwiches.

For many years my secretary's morning caffine kick came from a 44oz Big Gulp of Big Red. She could not function well in the morning without that cup nearby.  Sort of reminds me of "Abbey", the Lab-Girl on NCIS !!
