The Sandwich is the King Of Meals

Hi I'm new to the board.  I think it's awesome that I can across RoadFood!

I love sandwiches so much I started my own clothing line inspired by the sandwich.

I truly believe that the sandwich is the King of Meals- it can be made for any meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Dessert, etc).  That is why I enjoy it so much.  What do you think is the Sandwich the King of Meals or do you think something else is the King/Queen of Meals?

    Your threads are cute...Biggie!

I know you're based in Florida but eventually consider that a large portion of on-line buyers live in hoodie season from Oct. - April (sometimes May).

    Thanks for the compliment.
Yes I plan to do long sleeve and hoodies, etc.  I use to live in Jersey (Lived in North Bergen and in Westwood) I know you can't wear t-shirts all the time.  Might see something next year.   Thanks

@CCinNJ Might be tough to do an Ode to Tino since he probably does his own stuff.  But you may see some designs that are location based.  Should see something in Sept/Oct from me.

You're right TJ...and I will certainly get on that.

Biggie...since you have lived in North Bergen I'm sure you know that <<<Hoboken>>> is one of the finest places to enjoy a sandwich.

Solid Threads is a wonderful local company that is doing very very well. They don't focus too much specifically on targeted food categories...but lots and lots of bread can be made with sandwiches...

    http://www.solidthreads.com/servlet/StoreFront

They do a great job in the framework and I hope it's a valuable resource for you.

    I'm rootin' for ya...Biggie!

I like what Solid Threads is doing.  Fun Stuff.

Yeah when I lived in Jersey- Hoboken was not what it has now become.  I look forward to going back soon.  I will be in S Jersey this November.  Plan to enjoy some Philly Cheesesteaks while I am there.

I'd say the sandwich is tied with stews for "King of Meals," since you can mix pretty much any food into either.

    A sandwich is a sandwich. A donut is a meal! Pick a meal...any meal.

A donut can make a sandwich. It can also break a sandwich. Just be careful....and everything is iight.

Yes I also think sandwich is king of meals, I really like to eat all type of sandwiches. But my favorite are chicken and fresh  veggie sandwiches.

Strictly speaking, the Sandwich is the Earl of meals.  Aristocratic?  Yes.  Royal?  No!

The King of All Meals?  This is a highly subjective matter; here is mine:

    • Two double single barrel Bourbons over ice with a side of water.
    • Shrimp Cocktail ( 4 #8's + very horseradishy cocktail sauce)
    • Lobster Bisque
    • Wedge Salad - bacon & Maytag Bleu
    • Sparkling water and another double Bourbon
    • Filet Bernaise
    • Asparagus Hollandaise
    • "Loaded" twice baked potato
    • Sambuca on ice
    • Vanilla ice cream (20% butter fat)
    • Sambuca neat
    • Coffee
    • Cigar
    • Lipitor

The Metroplex (Dallas - Ft. Worth) is the "Hot Dog Capital of America"??!!

I thought that was either Jersey or Chicago, with L.A. "pretending".

Dallas is the city where high end steak places (Smith & Wollensky, Ruth's Chris, Morton's and BLT) go to die, withering from their inability to compete with the locals.

Hell, I have to drive 20 miles to patronize a butcher who purveys decent dogs (Thurman's, Vienna All Beef):  www.hirschsmeats.com .  Only Central Market sells Sabrett's - another 20 mile trek from my adopted hometown of McKinney, ("The second best place to live in the U.S." doncha' know; truth is, I'd prefer Pittsburgh but Mrs. Metro rules my little roost).

    --------------------------------

But, the more I think about this you are probably right - sadly, we do have Jerry Jones and his insufferable Cowboys & Cheesy Cheerleaders.  Pass the mustard!

I thought you were from New Castle, PA.

Kinda - last 3 years of H.S. and undergraduate school, but that was four wives, four kids, three careers, and 40+ years ago.  I've "gotten around" a little since spending my "Happy Days" in New Wilmington & NeCa.

But, when visiting old friends, three M&P Coneys washed down by an I.C. Light are always part of the "agenda"!

BTW:  the first "high end" steak dinner I ever had was at Troggio's in NeCa.  For the first 10 years or so in their new, high end location they actually developed a "national reputation".  Sadly, with the declining local population, they became unable to support business on that scale.

    Troggio's:

Good God, I forgot all about Troggio's!!  My parents and I ate there several times during my Westminster days.
NeCa is not only the "hot dog capital of America", it is also the "fireworks capital of America"!  Two lofty titles for an obscure town in W. PA!

lleechef, scroll through that URL and you'll see a bunch of interesting stuff, including: an old shot of Zambelli's Fireworks Factory, The Diamond (now Keddedy Square) as it was in various years, a once-dynamic downtown with trolleys, the huge railroad years, and all that wonderful job-producing manufacturing.

Troggio's was quite something for a small town; in its prime it drew from both Pittsburgh and Cleveland, just as did The Tavern.

Next time we're in Beaver Falls visiting my mother we're going to have to take a ride up to NeCa.  It's only about 20 miles.  I might even show MH the Westminster campus.....a ride back in time for me!  Now we should both get back on topic before we get the boot!!!

Sandwiches? Sandwiches? I had a fine sandwich yesterday -- a combination corned beef and pastrami with Swiss cheese on good rye with mustard. Thanks Katzinger's.

And an M&P Coney is definitely a sandwich - meat and toppings between bread.

    (Whew, back on topic!)
