Working the "Dinner Shift" ? Mon, 07/8/13 11:13 AM (permalink)
I'm sure most of you do lunch, primarily. Was wondering if anybody has had much luck with people grabbing dinner on their way home. An upside I can see is them buying for the whole family, thus a bigger sale per customer. It's also cooler not being in the mid-day sun, tho more potential for rain.

Boy you never been to the high desert huh?
here in vegas, it is around 115 to 119 with blasts of interminted rain. so it's like we are roasting, and every few hours god will baste us with hot water blasts. GF said just bring some tea bags out and I will be all set.

Not to sure about dinner. Most Families want something a little more substantial for their evening meal than a Hotdog and chips. If you want to beat the heat and you have a decent bar scene in Fieldale, Closing time might be a lucrative shift to consider.

I've lived in Vegas and Central CA, and I will take 110 and dry over 90 and humid any day.
I sell mostly Chili/Slaw dogs, so they are fairly substantial. Also a lotta folk around here have their "Big Meal" early in the day.
This is the Bible Belt....there are no bars.

Jcheese, are you going to do the Hillsville labor day swap meet this year? There's supposed to be 500,000 people there.

Where did you live in central Cali?  I lived in Tulare 10 years before moving to TN.

            Not sure about Hillsville....
I lived in Goshen and Farmersville, in Tulare Co.

This depends entirely on location/clentele...in my case i am open for breakfast lunch and thru dinner....the carts around yale university for example are set up by 10.30 or so and work till around 3pm....if you are in an area with limited vendors/restuarants you may pick up a little bit but with a limited menu of just hot dogs i wiuld say its not worth the time

Jeez, today was 90f with 99% humidity, worst day so far....And then the steam off my table. But I'm tough. I got tips just for standing in it.
