For a couple states they just had a picture of a wild animal.

One weird choice was Kansas with the White Castle hamburger. White Castle was founded in Wichita but today there are no White Castles in Kansas.

IT's actually an interesting list. I did see a few states I'd like to make sure and try their burger. And a In-n-Out double Double Animal style certainly reflects CA better then some lists I've seen. Good find, foodbme.

A good list.  Anyplace I have knowledge of they hit the target.

Alaska's burger is a mooseburger??  Well, there are a couple of problems:
1.  Pick a place to hunt.
2.  Stay there until you spot a moose (this could take days).
3.  Shoot the moose.
4.  Drag it out to your truck.
5.  Take it to be butchered and ground up.
6.  Grill your mooseburgers in -20 degree temps.  (no hunting in the summer) or freeze and grill in the summer surrounded by mosquitoes.
7.  Or, get on a plane to Santa Fe and have a green chile cheeseburger!

PS  I really have had mooseburgers thanks to a friend that got one in the winter.  A truly delicious burger, better than beef.  Be sure to bring extra DEET.

Hey, moose burger is good. Any venison burger is good. Of course, I even like bear burger.

Yay!!!  I had my first at Bobcat Bite in Santa Fe and it also was fantastic!  We bought a can of hatch chiles and made them at home a few weeks ago.  They were very good.......but there's something about being in NM and having those burgers..........

As usual I had a serious problem with seriouseats/ahamburgertoday. Like davydd said, that White Castle pick for Kansas was just down right weird. It's been how many years since they have even had one. Might have been invented there but not anymore. They also had I believe 4 or 5 onion burgers, I mean how many of those do you need. And haven eaten my share of burgers across this great land I think that list needs some fine tuning.

THIS should be the official burger of Alaska!!  Offered at Nagley's West Rib in Talkeetna, it's a 4 1/2 lb. double-stacked caribou burger topped with Swiss and American, 12 slices of bacon, a pound of ham, "FatAss Sauce", caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato on toasted sourdough, affectionately known as "Seward's Folly Burger".

I love caribou burgers, but what do you know? You're not a caribou. The trouble with that one is with all that stuff you won't really taste the great caribou.

But it would make a good garnish for a Bloody Mary.

This list is really inconsistent.

For North Carolina the Breaded Hamburger is not only nasty, it is not even the most popular sandwich served at Snappy Lunch. I am looking forward to a cheeseburger at the Penguin.

Solly's Butter Burger is not even a top 3 burger in my Wisconsin ratings. Despite all the butter on your plate, the burger just isn't very tasty.

No problem with Town Topic for Mo. but I'd go Cozy Inn for Ks.
And as usual, to outsiders Portland is Oregon and nothing else.
They barely know what a cow is  up there. bleah.

Two things that have finally come to Austin. Trader Joe's and two-buck-Chuck and an I-N-Out burger in Round Rock! This might just be heaven after all.

Adam Richman polished one off on Man V Food plus 1 lb. of fries!  I've been to the West Rib several times but never even tried to eat the "Seward's Folly Burger"!!
