I can understand the decision not play AR much in the preseason, we know what he can do.  If you look at the packers schedule it is TOUGH for the first 7 games.  They will need AR healthy so no reason to injure him in preseason.

Hey my HS is off to a wonderful start, last year they went 0-10, and this year their first game they were only down 61 to 0 at half time.  The game ended up close though the final score was 67 to 14.  Yep they are carrying on an old tradition..... LOSING BADLY!

Estimates vary, but fantasy sports are thought to have an annual economic impact in the neighborhood of $4 billion. The fantasy sports industry has grown by an average 12% annually since 2007, and weekly pay-to-play sites have been riding that wave to serious profits.

By contract, the Orlando CBS affiliate must broadcast all Jags away games. So while the rest of the country is watching Payton vs. Eli, this area was getting Jags vs. Raiders. The station ran a crawler at the bottom of the screen explaining all this & ending with: "We apologize for any inconvenience".

Yeah, that was an amazing game. I've always liked the Seahawks, but I've always liked the 49ers, too. It's a darned shame the Seahawks won't make it to the Super Bowl from the NFC this year. But that's because the Giants will.

With Jacksonville, Tampa, and Miami the entire state of Florida is pretty much an NFL train wreck this year.

But otherwise I don't think it sucks, except maybe for the overwhelming mediocrity of the NFC East.  There are some exciting young players to watch and it's nice to see some different teams at the tops of the divisions.

Are you a native of southern CA or some other warm location, Ed?  When I was chronologically younger we loved playing football in snowy weather, especially when the ground hadn't frozen yet and we would get covered in mud from head to toe.  I'm sure our mothers weren't quite as enthusiastic about it as we were.

The Bears need to win out and get one more Detroit loss to make the playoffs.  I'm not exactly optimistic about that happening but if it does maybe they'll go into the playoffs on a roll, like they did in 1977.  But hopefully with better results!

I've called three cities home:  Pittsburgh, Washington, DC, and Dallas.

One of the nicest things about Pittsburgh is that sadness and disappointment is the Zeitgeist of the City when "our boys" do poorly.  The first instinct is commiseration.

In DC and Dallas it is ugliness, anger, recrimination, the mandatory assignment of blame, and furious demands for "consequences".  Did anyone notice that 80% of yesterday's FedEx Field crowd went home at the half?

Willie Stargell hit on it in 1979:  "We are Family".

No wonder that Pittsburgh is always at the top of 'best places to live' and 'nicest people' lists!

I grew up in Indianapolis and went to college in Cincinnati but have no connections to the Colts and Bengals since they didn't exist when I lived there. The Cleveland Browns were my team. I took that to an extreme. I married a girl from Cleveland (Bay Village).

43 years in Minnesota has made me a stoic Viking fan but I have yet to have tried Lutefisk. That might be because I spent three years in Newport, Rhode Island. Rhode Island does things to you.

I like to see Dallas win if only because it makes those I work with happier.

The general consensus here in Dallas is that it's time for Jerry Jones to become Owner-Emeritus and GM-Emeritus, let his kids play owner and hire a "real" Head Coach and GM.  Parcells built the 'winning part' of the present dallas team and Wade Phillips & Garrett have pi$$ed it away.

Evidently I have been sleeping on my STEELERS

They can actually be the #6 seed if:

They beat the Brownies.  (Done Deal!).
The Jets beat the Fish.  (A definite possibility).
Kansas City wakes up and beats the Chargers.  (Likely).

Then they would get Denver at Denver.

But strange things happen on that field, like Tebow throwing for 318 yards (make that 3:18 yards) against the Steelers in the playoffs a few years back.

Sometimes prayers are answered; Tebow certainly had The Almighty on his side that day!
