Football Is Here -- Hallelujah! - Sat, 08/3/13 1:29 PM
College football camps are opening and tonight the NFL Hall of Fame induction takes place at Canton. Sunday the hall of Fame Game between the Cowboys and the Dolphins kicks off the pro football exhibition season.

I can breathe again.

I almost ordered the Direct-TV NFL Package that allows you to watch every game in every city during the season...but chickened out at the cost.. So we'll still get TBS-TNT-ESPN and the regular networks coverage.   AT Last.

I cannot wait!  It is easier to get through the summer with grandchildren playing lacrosse  and wrestling, but I love football.  I am so happy about Bill Parcells,  and I just want to say  "GO  GIANTS"!

I am so ready for the football season.  This past two years it has been hard to watch the cubbies, so I am ready for the football season to begin.  GO CARDS! or GO PACKERS! or GO COLTS! its still preseason I can cheer for the three of them!

My mom is also ready she loves football season and college football especially.

They play lacrosse in the summer? That would be nice! My friend's boys play NCAA lacrosse, but their season runs February to May so I still don't win once hockey season is over for sports.

I remember that game with Y A Tittle.. Watched it in Noank CONN. at my brother-in-laws house,,He brought home a tray of 24 hot-buttered Lobster Rolls..at $2.00 each. I think I ate half a dozen during the game.
We had fried clams and Onion Rings for supper after the game.  BTW The game was broadcast in B/W !!

I'd vote for any of them EXCEPT BARRY BONDS
In addition, they could make a list of all the great players who came from the area -Namath, Tom Brady, Marino, Dorsett, Kelly ETC, ETC, ETC

You most likely mixed up Tom Brady with Joe Montana.  I am pleased to say Mr. Brady has no connection to Western PA.

Maybe it is because the local baseball team is doing so well and the football team looks to be having a down year, but I have no interest in watching the NFL right now.  Most likely, once the regular season games start, I will be paying attention.

I once spent an afternoon with Art Donovan in a bar ( the Arena Grill) in New Haven. He was one of the funniest guys I've ever met. And one of the nicest.

That's a shame about Art Donovan, one of the real characters of the game.  I loved his appearances on the David Letterman shows.

I didn't know he was on Letterman. I guess the fact that I don't watch it might have something to do with it.

SOOOO EXcited about this season - both college and NFL. Penn State looks better than last year, and are building a good program under O'Brian. My hometown Syracuse starts fresh in the ACC with a favorable schedule and a reviving program. Look for them to make a bowl in the first ACC season.

And Redskins look like the team to beat in the NFC East. RGIII will be back for season opener; and Kirk Cousins will get much needed 1st string starting time in the pre-season games, so that he's ready for the season should RGIII go down. He did an outstanding job against Baltimore (who went on to win SB) and Cleveland, but had a tough go of it in playoff game vs. Seattle. I think he learned a lot in that game - and with this year's starts, he should be prime to step in when needed. And, RGIII is looking strong in his sessions at training camp down there in Richmond. The higher-ups are playing down his readiness, but he seems ready to go mentally, and he says physically, too.

So, hell yeah Michael Hoffman! Football is here! Hallelujah!

Hell no, we don't talk in the house!  Sometimes I invite him to come to the table to have dinner with me.  He watches sports on TV in his cave and I watch re-runs of Everybody Loves Raymond in the living room.  We text back and forth.  When I get sick of his blabbering I just sign off!  It works!

It had all the elements of a pre-season game: mistakes, penalties and a few guys working their tails off to get a spot on the team.

I enjoyed the win, but even more enjoyed seeing Redskins defense look much stronger than the Titan game.

I don't dislike the Steelers, really, so it was hard to watch them get game/score altering penalties. AFC North is a tough conference this year, and those kind of errors is not going to win you any division titles. But, it's preseason. Tonight Steeler fans can catch division rival (and Super Bowl defending champs) Baltimore - and compare.

It's only preseason.

It never pays to underestimate Tomlin; if he could, Jerry Jones would offer him 5/$75MM.

Besides, getting rid of Mendenhall and Wallace can only help.

A healthy OL = championship!

They are going to need a substitution for the poor referee, that man has thrown so many flags and has run up and down the field so many time with this punt (this is the third time) and another flag and another flag.

Poor Poor Ref!!!

Golden Tate looks like he is ready to break one for a TD

Finally the punt will stand after two more penalties.

I think the 74k GB fans would have liked to see Aaron Rogers play more than one series. It would have been a good time for the first team to get some real time in. GB plays San Francisco the first game, thats not going to be a easy first start. Seattle plays SF in Seattle the second game, I hope Green Bay tires them out a bit for us................Bill

Football season means Go ducks and Go seahawks and an occasional trip to see the mighty willamette bearcats. Lots of weekend plans for the Ducks.
