Salvatore's Tomato Pies (Sun Prairie WI) - Mon, 08/5/13 2:03 PM
0
Last night Mrs. Chicken and I had supper at Salvatore's Tomato Pies, a Sun Prairie pizzeria that's been open for a couple of years and that recently got a little press coverage.

It wasn't cheap but it was worth every penny; ironically, it shares a building with a payday loan business.  The bacon cheese bread (made with Nueske's bacon) was excellent and the pizza (sausage-mushroom-kalamata) was equally outstanding.  Pancho and any other Madison-area residents should definitely check it out.

Photos coming eventually...

What, no pictures of the Pizza?!?  Who are you and what have you done with the real ChickenBoy?

Love the menu link.  Any restaurant website where the first image you see is four people dressed to the nines at a (I'm guessing) 1960's wedding has to be good.

Patience is a virtue, Buddy.

I'll have them by the end of the week.  I'm grilling tonight and tomorrow and that should take care of the roll.

I do believe I'd like to try a tomato pie at Salvatore's.

Hey Brad...I've been there several times and it is fabulous. However, by far my favorite in Madison is the fresh caprese pizza at Pizza di Roma on State St. Wonderful crisp crust and great fresh toppings. Best I've had anywhere. Here's a pic and some other representative menu items. (right across from Parthenon Gyros)

That's a frightening amount of non-meat toppings on that caprese slice.

Olives and onions? Caprese?

Simply, "Caprese+"? Seriously, about the best pizza I've ever had...I've lived in 24 states (including NY), and have visited all of them. I'm also a true carnivore, but that veggie slice is beyond belief. The crust carries it as well.

As promised:

The bacon cheese bread.  At the far left is the little dish of what looked like ketchup; Mrs. Chicken bravely tasted it and the look on her face told me it was a hot chile sauce.  Hot indeed, but very good on the bread.

I heartily agree!
