I think it's a bain marie.
basicly a pot of water in a steam table.
they use them in commercial kitchens. you can find self standing electric ones in restaurant supply places too. but those are expencive. you can get a good home type one at like walmart. west bend is nice.

It looks like a standard food warmer with round pots.   I can't tell if the it is a counter top or a drop-in.

This link should help with the different style available.   http://www.foodservicewarehouse.com/equipment/food-warming-equipment/c3437.aspx?gclid=CLSG0r3mjLkCFQ2f4AodZBkAPA

To all that responded, THANK YOU

John,
Back in the fifties, before NSF standards and stainless steel cookware, Chicago hot dog stands used porcelain crock pots, submerged in gas powered, water bath, steam tables to hot hold their hot dogs. A handful of old classic Chicago stands as Gene & Judes, Jimmy's, Red Hot Ranch, and Gina's, still use this method for hot holding. Unfortunately, these porcelain crock pots have become extinct. www.greasefreak.com

Somebody still makes them cause almost every cincinnati style chili parlor holds their chili in them.

Yeah the stainless steel ones work just as well and you wont cry if you drop them.

I have seen the one at our local chili parlor hit the floor the manager was in tears, not only for the loss of the crock but for the loss of all that chili too.

If you're referring to the porcelain inserts used in the bain marie, Cincinnati Chili retaurants still use them. If that's what you're looking for I will ask where they get them from.
