Howdy.  Lots of places will be hard to add, but I might (strongly) recommend Dixie Chili across the river in Newport, home of the 6-Way (a traditional 5-Way with added fresh minced garlic) and they serve the odd variation on the traditional coney, called an Alligator.  It's a coney but with cheese, mayo and a dill spear.  Weirdly delicious.  The 6-Way is manna from Heaven, but your spouse might file for halitosis-induced divorce.

Hmmm...  The alligator does sound like it could be one of those weird flavor combos that actually work.  Thanks for posting John.

I love Cincy, especially their chili and Graeter's. I plan on being there.

Is this going to be a 2 day event? If so, has lodging been discussed?

If I go, I hope not, since I would like to be back in RI by Monday evening (this will be a driving trip for me)

Excellent!  So glad you are going to join us.

As far as I know, nothing has been said about hotels and it will most likely be just a one day event.  After the previous one a few years ago, it took me a full day or so to recover!

It too far, about 8 hrs, for a 1 day trip. When I stay in Cincy I like to stay at the Garfield.

http://www.garfieldsuites...vtvc_LoCFSLxOgod5wIAsw

Its an old hotel where the rooms are fully contained suites. I've stayed there several times on multi week work trips. It is a little pricey.

If anyone else is looking for lodging I wouldn't mind sharing a room.

I've not stayed there, as I live here, but I park next to it, and some of the guest artists for the Cincinnati May Festival and the Symphony stay there and speak very, very highly of the place.

The official crawl will be a 1 day event, that  being said if anyone arrives the night before or what ever then I am certain we can find something to fit the bill with.

I had not thought about looking into hotels spaces, but I can if you all want.

I have heard back form 1 of the 2 surprises I was thinking about and hoepfully things can be ironed out.

If I make the trip, I guarantee it'll be for a long weekend.  I'll be looking for activities (not necessarily your responsibility to track these down, CK) from late Friday afternoon through late Sunday afternoon.  Anyone interested in forming a group for those additional stops is welcome.

Buddy -That offer is very inviting, but our acceptance will be contingent on our travel arrangements.

Pie Diva and I intend to stay Friday & Saturday nights at the Garfield, so we'll be looking for things to do each night. We'll probably get on the road back to North Carolina by noon on Sunday (likely before you are up).

What about Mariton or Cousin Johnny?

I know there are more who have expressed interest, but I lost the paper that had my list on it.

I have tried for 2 days to bring up the 2009 trip report from the last one to post its link on here, but RF, my computer and xfinity have not agreed.

No Mariton, she will be in the Philippines. Cousin Johnny is a possibility. I will check and see if he is interested.

Donald, see if you can get ahold of some of these to share, I think they are pretty unique to our region -- hell, WJ might even try one: http://www.newsomscountryham.com/pulcreamcan.html.  I generally see them at Remke's in NKY.

Apparently TJ wants to avoid meeting me at all costs....

I'm still a maybe, however Karilyn told me at our Boston gathering last week that she is also a "maybe" as she has family in the area.

Not sure yet if Mrs. Roadhouse will accompany me, but I'll keep pushing the issue.

Also, you might want to put down local Roadfooders, jjrfoodie and Tumbleweed365 as tentatives.

P.S. "Be there or be square"?  Never thought I'd see those words in a Michael Hoffman post.  What's next, "Groovy"?
