I've heard there is a whole thread on Roadfood about nowhere to eat in Cincinnati.

I don't know abut that. The owner of the Waffle House places in Cincinnati is the same guy who owns the one at Jeffersonville, and last time I was in that one they had a sign that said no free refills on coffee.

And well you should be. Scares the heck out of me just thinking about you having to do that. I've heard that Donald snores.

mayor al

Dale,
I would assume that one of the major stops for exploration would be at Jungle Jim's in Fairfield, OH. We need at least a couple of hours, hopefully four or more, to really examine that unbelieveable Market...And the coffee market is designed just for you.
Here's the JJ website and their weekly grocery  ad....
http://www.junglejims.com/

There is also the newer Jungle Jim's in the Eastgate area where I live. It's at 275 and SR 32. The store is actually bigger so it doesn't feel as cramped as the Fairfield location.

Food? In the Cincinnati area? Not hardly. Whenever I'm forced to go there I never eat. Well, I used to. But that was when Maisonette, the only five-star rated restaurant in Ohio, was still operating. I've heard there is a whole thread on Roadfood about nowhere to eat in Cincinnati.

At one time, Cincinnati had three five star Mobil joints -- Maisonette, Pigall's, and the Gourmet Room at the Terrace Hilton.

You're right. But I never cared much for Pigall's and never got to the Gourmet Room.

I fished with Gordon Jump, and I was editor of the Ohio Fisherman Magazine that was always on his desk in the WKRP office. So come on East.

He was a great guy. And he was funnier than hell. We brought him up to Port Clinton to fish for walleye a few times. He was from Dayton.

Back in the day, my circle of friends included Howard Hesseman. Spent some good times hanging out at his place in the Hollywood Hills. A mutual friend of ours would stay with me for a few days and then with Howard for a few more. He was a good guy and very different from "Dr. Johnny Fever".

I must be old too because I never saw that program.  I think it started when I was in France, then when I came back, I was working every evening at the restaurant.  Don't think I missed much.

I think that's about the same time this family moved here from France. Did you know them?

Don't say that, you are crushing me. Dr. Fever was my role model.

Carrying on the WKRP 6-degrees of separation, when Pie Diva and I lived in Florida in the early 1990's, Lonnie's daughter lived in our neighborhood. Occasionally we'd see a stretch limo pull through the neighborhood and every red-blooded male in the subdivision suddenly had to "run to the grocery store."
