Re:Resurrecting The American Chestnut
We had 4 trees in the side yard when I was growing up. I loved to eat them, but they are a pain. Not only are they hard to get out of the husk, but the burr's are a real drag to rake before mowing the grass. We recently cut the trees down since we have all grown and moved out.
It was kind of fascinating to watch deer come into the yard and bury their noses into those burrs to get to the nuts. Didnt seem to bother them.
