I can only comment on three of the places mentioned, and two of those I can only address vicariously.  I've been to RC's and found myself unimpressed.  Food was good, but not great, and compared to Stroud's old time jook joint atmosphere, RC's was like eating in a second rate wedding hall.

Mrs. Roadhouse, being from St. Joseph, MO, has eaten at Galvin's numerous times and says it compares nicely to Stroud's both in food quality and ambiance.  Someday I might actually get to eat there myself.

Finally, there's Go Chicken Go.  My BIL who lives in Independence, MO gets glassy eyed when he talks about the place.  We were going to try and make a run on our last Christmas visit, but I got deathly ill the last four days of the trip and that changed our schedule a lot.  We'll take another stab at it this year.

Where was this list a few weeks ago when I was in Kansas City?  As much as I love Stroud's, I am ready to try some other places.  Galvin's sounds especially appealing.

        Peachtree Buffet and Peachtree Restaurants
        Another place brought to light.
I think we will try next time in KC:

We've passed by Peachtree Buffet dozens of times, wanted to stop there, but never have.  The problem: Peachtree Buffet is on the way to, and only a few blocks away from, LC's Bar-B-Q.  We still haven't figured out how "change direction", culinarily speaking, when our ultimate destination is some of KC's best 'Que.

I suppose we could go back again the next day, but once we've filled up on LC's, the memory clouds and we forget how we even got there in the first place.  Thank goodness for our GPS getting us back home.

Oh well, I expect we'll get to Peachtree one of these visits...

I love the fact that Galvin's uses small fryers.  I remember as a child when my mother went to the butcher shop (or sent my father there) to buy whole chickens that she cut up herself to pan fry, she NEVER bought one larger than 2 and a half pounds.  She'd be appalled at the huge chickens that are peddled as "fryers" today.
I'm a Stroud's fan (though I did make the trek to Brookville Hotel once, and enjoyed it very much), but  I will  have to try this place when I'm next in the KC area.

              I know what you mean!
We usually get more "to go"than we stopped for
after eating at LC'S. Not much room for fried chicken .

Annie's and Mary's are great chicken joints. worth the drive from kc if you have the time.
