I don't know if this is in the right category or not.Move it if need be. In Selma ,Texas, northeast of San Antonio was Reuben's Place. It started out as
a combination grocerystore and gas station, back in the 1930s. Later it became a dance hall that offered food, like hamburgers, enchiladas ,etc. It was known far and wide as a home for conjunto
bands mainly. Some famous people played there like Flacco Jimenez the accordianist.
They were also famous for their food, especially the enchiladas.
According to the San Antonio Express News Sunday Edition a developer has bought the property which sits on IH35 across from the Forum at Olympia Hills. The space is going to be developed for retail, etc. Never ate there as my parents considered it a bar. However it would have been nice to try it once as November 3rd was their final day to be open. Another institution gone in the cause of mega shopping centers.
