A new category this year..... Best Waitress
This is Natalie from Zweig's Grill
in Watertown, WI. Maybe saying she was the best waitress from the past year is overstating it, but there is no one who was more fun or more memorable.
When I sat down at the counter, she stuck her hand out and said, "Hi, I'm Natalie." Well, we are all used to having waiters or waitresses tell us their names. So, it never occurred to me to tell her my name, too. When I didn't respond properly, she faked indignation and said, "And you are?" Zweig's
is not the type of place where you go and eat an anonymous meal. You are brought into the group and the discussion, even if you are a stranger. I loved the place immediately.
When it came to ordering, I told Natalie I was there for the burger.
From there, it was no longer my decision, as she told me what she was going to make, which turned out to be a double with fried onions and pepperjack cheese, because it was her favorite. And it was really, really good.
Soon, I was on another waitresses' cell phone (truthfully, the entire staff here is incredibly lively), as she put me on the phone with a friend of hers who was at the Brewers game as they tried to remember the name of the town near Pittsburgh where their mutual friend, who still has Zweig's
brats shipped to him, moved to! Got that? When the burger was done, Natalie just stood there, letting me know I wasn't getting my food until I snapped her photo, all while still talking to the woman at the Brewers game. The whole experience was slightly crazy, but incredibly fun at the same time.
My advice is to go to Zweig's
and definitely sit at the counter. No doubt you will enjoy it as much as I did.
