Next Sunday Evening 1/5 in Lousville

There's a better than even chance that the Bengals playoff game will be blacked out in Cincinnati

I dont have enough money for tickets, sadly

I researched the blackout map and it appears Louisville will get the game

So right now, Plan B (the game is blacked out) is to drive with one or two of my siblings to Louisville on Sunday morning, hang out at some bar with widescreens to watch the game, get early dinner in Lousiville thereafter, then drive back to Cincinnati

I am thinking dinner at the Bar at the Brown hotel, since I can get the original Hot Brown there - I checked the hours and menu already.

However - anyone have an alternate suggestion for dinner?

Has to be moderate/casual and open Sunday early evening and probably be best if it isn't in a rundown area of town - I wont mind but my siblings might

This is one single stop for dinner, not a foodie tour, so (sadly) I cant hit Pie Shop for a pie and stuff like that

Blacking out the Bengals game is a wonderful gift for the people of Cincinnati. Would that it could be blacked out everywhere. But you have to wonder about a team that can't sell tickets to its games in its own hometown.

Sadly, we are not all blessed with an unlimited entertainment budget

I envy your good fortune

Can we return to topic?

Thanks

I can't imagine a Team not being able to sell enough tickets for a PLAYOFF GAME to avoid being blacked out.

Careful. TJ doesn't like it when someone posts anything he doesn't like on a thread he started.

I am asking a legitimate roadfood question here and am hoping for legitimate answers, not personal attacks

Well, personally, I don't know why you'd want an alternative to a Hot Brown at the Brown. But, why Louisville? Columbus is just seven more miles away than Louisville, and Columbus has the Thurman for dinner. http://thethurmancafe.com/

Because I've had the hot brown there and there might be something better

Thank you for the Columbus suggestion

TJ - I have heard nothing but great things about Hammerhead's. I saw it on tee vee first but I asked a couple friends who live down there, and one had been there and raved about it and another had a couple of friends who went and loved it.

True that, but both Hammerheads and adjoining Game are closed Sundays.

TJ - While not roadfood, I just had a wonderful meal this past weekend at The Blind Pig. Here is the website http://theblindpiglouisville.com/

The Blind Pig was evicted and closed back in October last I heard. If they re-opened I don't think they are open Sundays. Check out Havana Rumba for some great Cuban food. I KNOW they are open Sundays.

Just FYI, both Green Bay and Indianapolis are also in danger if being blacked out. So I guess it's not just Cincinnati. I think it speaks volumes to the value of tickets now that everyone has HDTVs.

Sorry I don't know Louisville, but my dad goes there all the time. I'll ask him and post if he has any suggestions.

One of the reasons there are still 5500 tickets available for the SF/GB game is that season ticket holders were required to turn in their playoff requests by Dec. 14, but at that time things weren't looking particularly good for the Packers so a lot of people declined.  Hence the unexpected availability.

I heard on the news this morning that tickets are roughly $100-300 apiece.  Figure in parking, travel costs, etc. and it could be a pricey day at the stadium.

That and the predicted game time temperature is -9 degrees!

An extension was granted to 4pm today - many of the tickets were bought large numbers by large local companies like Krogers, P&G, and etc...and the tickets distributed in some of those cases to military families

Translation: Mike Brown asked for an extension so he could fleece more people for an extra day.

I doubt there was ever any real danger of the game being Brown-ed out.
