DC: Street food?

For those of you that haven't seen my other reports, every year a group of my friends goes on a "Death March".  We pick a city (previously NYC, SF, Chicago, and Boston), and walk our way through the city on a ~20 mile route, trying to enjoy as many food places as possible.

The key here is timing: any time you spend in line or eating is time not spent walking, so I'm looking for funky, must-hit places that don't have crazy long lines and preferably give you food to go.  A few sit-down places are good, and a sit-down breakfast place is actually a good way to meet up and start (we're nominally starting at Takoma Metro).

Here's the route so far, although it can be bent and twisted to meet our needs: http://goo.gl/DQnFzk

So far, the route passes by Amsterdam Falafel and Super Taco.  And depending on the day/time, some food truck action by Dupont Circle.

Recommendations?

(Oh, and once we pick a date, Roadfooders are welcome to come.  We had several RF folks on the Boston March)

Stop N is pretty close to the Maine Avenue fish market one of my favorite places in DC.

Off your path, but just in case the mood strikes you: Ravi Kabob House in Arlington (Ballston). The best chickpeas ever.

Oh, I know Ravi Kabob... but it is off the route.  May pick it up as a side trip on another day.

Maine Avenue Fish Market:  I've bought fish there, but never food.  Efficient for takeout?  May be able to work that one in.  :)

Not funky but really delicious!  They have a calendar which tells you their times and locations each day.  This is not a cheap stop but it is our favorite food truck in DC.      http://www.redhooklobsterdc.com/menu/

Ben's Chili Bowl.

Oh, I see it's already on your route.

Wow, very impressive itinerary!
A suggestion -- 2 Amys for great pizza -- which would involve a slight route alteration --
Between points B and C, at Macomb St NW and 36th St NW, go approx 1/1/2 blocks west on Macomb St NW (across Wisconsin Ave.) to 2 Amys:
2 Amys
3715 Macomb St NW, Washington, DC
(202) 885-5700

You then go back to Wisconsin and continue to point C.

Yes very good for takeout. Several places have prepared food for sale. Jimmy's Grill does full platters with sides and has great lemonade and deserts.

Thanks.  We'll be wanting a spot around then, although they probably won't be open (if so, they'll just have opened).  Still, food for thought.

I'll add Maine Avenue to the itinerary, since that's a short enough detour.  If we are running behind (often a problem) then we'll cut that out.

Ben's Chili Bowl.

Yeah, I'm hoping that our ~2pm arrival time makes the line short.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone else has suggestions.
If anyone wants to join our march on April 26th, send me a private message and I'll get details to you.

I'll second the recommendation of Ravi Kabob in Arlington. There are a lot of kabob places in the DC area, but Ravi is as good as any.

That all looks so nice -- wish we could go to that, but we'll probably be catching up on all the places we couldn't go because of the ever-present snow here since January! I'll enquire, though, because my other half can walk for MILES.
