I forgot about the taped-together cans. Growing up there were just a few things I knew about Chinese food. Some of it came in cans, some of it came from a restaurant called the Far East, and some of it came from Nickel Charlie's hamburger place downtown. All in all, I preferred the Chinese food at Nickel Charlie's (really Charles Lunch). There was just the one item -- chow mein on a hamburger bun.
Chowmein on a bun.a staple of SE Mass for many years.....is still a work of art and love.............at least in some places
