From his few movie acting roles, most people probably did not realize what a talented writer and director he was and how many well known movies such as Animal House and Groundhog Day were written and directed by him. An extremely talented man who will be missed.

My favorite Ramos film is "STRIPES".

Much of the film "STRIPES" was filmed here in Louisville during my first period of residence here. The whole town went nuts over the crew while they were here and at Ft Knox doing the filming. The 2nd Street bridge across the Ohio River was closed for 4 hours for three straight days to allow shooting of one scene (early in the film) where Bill Murrey causes a traffic jam on the bridge. Hundreds of folks volunteered to be unpaid extras with their cars during the 'takes and re-takes' of that scene.
"STRIPES" is a very funny film, and,  " THAT'S A FACT, JACK !."

I think the funniest part of that story is the unpaid extras volunteering to be stuck in a four hour traffic jam for three straight days.  If it had been a real tie up, lasting only ten or fifteen minutes, those same people would've been cursing a blue streak.

I guess some folks will put up with anything to be in the moving picture business.

P.S. Harold Ramis was a Chicago boy.  Born, bred, and educated here; instilled with a sense of humor peculiar to the Second City.  We'll miss him greatly.

Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the swim meet? Who delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner?
Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear.
    Every spring, the toilets explode."
