Stroud's to Open Third Location

The Kansas City Star is reporting that Stroud's is opening a new location in southern Overland Park just east of 135th St and Antioch Rd. Here is the link.

Looking at Google Map's Street View, it looks like a good fit for Stroud's.  Even though it is clearly a new building, it is in the style of an older Roadhouse, similar in tone to Stroud's now departed original location.

The real issue, of course, will be the food.  When Stroud's moved to their new Fairway location, at least they were able to bring over all their well seasoned pans and other cooking implements.  Presumably, a third location would need to start from scratch with all new gear.

I'd give 'em a shot next time we're in that part of town.

    Nice Wacky Packages reference, WJ!

The new Stroud's will also be the first one built and opened as part of the new corporate partnership.  Will that effect things or won't it...

I have never been to Stroud's but read much good things here. Track records have not been kind to mom and pop operations that go corporate. Since everyone speaks so highly of it, I hope I'm wrong.

It looks like the Oak Ridge Manor location will not have any of the corporate ties, so that is where I will continue to go.

Having been to both locations, I think each has its own merits.

I hope they can keep up the quality, and I certainly appreciate the idea of having space for private parties in the new (third) location.

The live music on weekends, though?  I'm not so sure about that.

The original location always had live music.

Of course, it was in the form of an old man playing standards on a standup piano near the entrance to the restrooms.  I reckon the new location will be a bit more "packaged".
