And now Toyota is moving their North American HQ (and 4,000 jobs) from an L.A. burb to just down the road from me here in Texas.
The funniest thing I've read so far on this is a blog calling Rick Perry an "economic terrorist"!
That is really sad. For years, I had driven past Toyota HQ on 190th Street twice a day. It was a big part of the area and it's going to hurt a lot of people.
Of course, I still am amazed that CA refused to give concessions to turn the Mojave Airport, the birthplace of many of Burt Rutan's project and the home base of SpaceShipOne when it made the record for first private manned suborbital flight and won the AnsariX Prize. A few days before, Mojave was approved as a "spaceport". The next thing you knew, the real Spaceport was given to New Mexico, which is where VirginGalactic will fly from. CA, both state and local governments, have no concept when it comes to keeping businesses. Believe me, for a CA resident, I cannot believe what they are doing. And it's not new. It's been happening for years here. If you saw a list of all the companies that have left over the last 30 years you'd be shocked.
