Arby's Brisket Sandwich

Whomever the Arby's Food Engineer is who approved this product to be sold to the public should be fired and then shot!
Tough, Tasteless Meat slathered in some kind of Mayo Sauce and some foul cheese sauce on it id disgusting.
And the dense bun is tough too!

I'm a little confused. Yesterday, I saw an ad showing that Arby's was running their brisket sandwich again. I went to BK's site and there is nothing there about a brisket sandwich.

I will address the Arby's brisket sandwich. I haven't tried it this go-around yet, but I expect to do so. I tried it a couple of times when they introduced it the first time and found it to be a very good sandwich.  The meat was very tender and the condiments offered on the sandwich (gouda, mayo, bbq sauce and a ff onion ring) offered what I thought was a good balance. The bun was outstanding. It held up well, being firm on the outside and soft on the inside.

I also was a little confused.  I have seen Arby's commercials where they claim to smoke brisket for 13 hours.  I have never had one.  I was unaware that BK also offered the same.  It is not listed on their menu.

I just wish Arby's would get back to the Roast Beef & red Arby's sauce they had in the early 70's.   That was a good sandwich.     ... I can make my own brisket sandwich.

I don't understand Arby's use of Bo Deidl as spokesman. Are they trying for NY $$$? He means less than nothing to us in Oregon, whether hawking brisket or fish.

They started using him as part of the ad campaign to "prove" their sandwich was as good or better as what you could get in a NYC deli. Not sure why anyone outside of NYC is supposed to care. I didn't know he was a celebrity; I honestly thought they hired an actor to do a stereotypical NYC character.

....but....but....the radio ads claim it is smoked a MINIMUM of 13 hours

....and....and....local celebrities are endorsing it in gushing terms (at least here in Cincinnati)

so it just simply MUST be good

It's an offering from a FF restaurant, so it must be the foulest thing ever produced for human consumption.

It DID have a smoke flavor that seemed authentic but no BBQ flavor and the meat was tougher than a Mother-In-Law's Heart!

This thread was incorrectly placed as Burger King but it was intended as Arby's.  A mistake by the original poster but it posted It here. Roz brought me one tonight from Arby's.  It was a tasty sandwich but not a brisket as I know it.  Their sauce was a little sweet which disguised the brisket. Would I buy another???  Probably not but it was not bad.

I've read in old threads here about Arby's as it was in the '60s and '70s.  I'd love to see a picture of their "steamship rounds" or sandwiches from back then, or those mashed-potato-based French fries,  but it's tough enough just finding pics of the buildings or advertisements.  All accounts are that this was the Golden Age of Arby's.

There's an Arby's quite close to where I live now, and they've been touting that "Brisket is Back" signage outside ever since I moved up here. I can't help thinking about the people who knock each other down to get at it, and convince themselves that it's good. Arby's is nothing but a landmark for me, so I just breeze by it on the way home. I'd never stop there for anything. Not a fast food snob, but a brisket snob, most definitely!

Indeed.  In the mid-'60's we (my parents & I) used to drive 20 miles from New Wilmington, PA to Boardman, OH to patronize the very first Arby's.  The 'menu' had 2 items: a $0.59 sandwich and a $0.49 Jamocha Shake.  They also sold bags of chips.  This was quite expensive then as $0.69 bought a three piece chicken dinner and a Coke at Red Barn and $0.61 got you 2 burgers, fries, and a shake from McD's.  But, oh my, the beef, red sauce, and shake were absolutely and addictively delicious.

Today I had a 'single meat' Reuben and a medium Jamocha shake for $8.20.  It was tasty, quick, yet ( " /> ) pricey.  Had I had a bit more time I would have gotten a huge brisket sandwich and two sides here for $0.70 more.

Arby's insists that 'people' like their 'roast beef product' better than the real deal.  I say 'B.S.', but the red sauce is still tasty (yet watered down) and their Jamocha shake is still quite a treat, though I suspect it is 'Better Living through Chemistry'.

There was a segment on the Travel Channel's "Food Paradise" about the feud between J. Mueller and Aaron Franklin.
Seems there's no love lost there!
