I had no idea that things had gotten so bad for Springfield, MA since I last visited it in 1970. But now a frigging CASINO!!! Now, that's the ticket! ............
It is a mess, Jim. The anti folks got signatures to put it on the ballot, and the attorney general refused. It went to court. It will be on the ballot on the fall. Polls are running about 45-55 for. A friend, a real policy wonk (and I mean that as a compliment), has a full time job with the no folks. The atty gen is running for gov. In any other state my friend would have a bright political future, as it is Martha Coakly may be in the lead for gov, because her folks have already spent the casino money in their minds.
I don't care for casinos, but on most days, over half of the cars at CT casinos are from Mass, and the spenders in Boston hate it. I would think that the CT casino tribes would pay MA to stay casino free.
But to your point, Jim, do I think that a casino will save Springfield, or The Student Prince??........NO
