I agree with scbuzz, since I lake gravy a LOT more than I like mashed potatoes. In fact, I will usually form the potatoes into a dike around a virtual lake of gravy. I also really don't really care for the gravy getting on certain vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, and beets come to mind, or a salad if it is not in a separate dish
). In the case of a hot beef (turkey, etc.) sandwich, then it doesn't matter as much as the gravy is going over everything on the plate.
