I saw a great story on the Travel Channel about Chesapeake Blue Crabs and they featured Crisfield MD. One of the Restaurants featured was the Captain's Galley & their crabcakes simply looked devine. Can anyone give me a review of this restaurant? I would like to try it sometime.

Thanks!

In an all -to - short crab cake pilgrimage to the Eastern Shore last October,The Original Captain's Galley came out on top.No bread filler.Just crab meat, mostly lump, bound with some sort of puree.maybe shrimp.A total big smile from first bite to last.Hard shell crabs were great too.Not much happening in Crisfield. It's a town that shows the effects of an industry (oysters and crabs)that's on the downside. But the food....I can't wait to return.Have fun and by all means try the Galley's carbcakes. They'll wrap them up for you too to take home.Or send Fed-Ex.Enjoy.

I've eaten there as well and can also vouch for the quality of their seafood. the crab cakes are superb, and the crab soup is excellent, as well.

My family visits Chincoteague every year, and the trip would not be complete without a trip to Crisfield for crabcakes at the Captain's Galley. Other foods are good as well, and I have to order a bowl of cream of crab soup in order to have enough to share with my kids!

Unfortunatly, the Captain's Galley is now closed, perhaps permanently. http://www.delmarvanow.com/somerset/stories/20041124/1642547.html Fortunatly, there are other good seafood options in Crisfield, such as The Cove ( www.coverestaurant.net ) and the Circle Inn.

Well, if you're in Ocean City and you want great maryland crab cakes be sure to check out Rippons Seafood . They've been around since 1986. The owners come from Hoopers Island (fishing community, Chesapeake Bay). Having been raised on the Eastern Shore I must say that they're up there with the best I've eaten.

I'm happy to report that The Captain's Galley has reopened. http://thecaptainsgalley.com/amenities_dining.htm My wife and I go to Crisfield periodically, so the next time we go, we'll give it a try to see if the new place is as good as the original.

rbpalmer-
Hey, that is really good news. It seems so often we are hearing about a Roadfood place closing, that it is refreshing to hear about one reopening. I am looking forward to your report.
