RE: Johnny Rockets Chili
As far as chain-chili recipes go, I don't think they would be very hard to duplicate. Decent chili is pretty easy to make. For the chains, it's a nice way to use up the unsold burger patties from lunch. If you entered "chili recipes" into google, and averaged out the top 10 normal recipes (excluding those with chocolate, sesame seeds, vodka, chorizo, and the like), you'd have a chili probably about the same as Rocket's or Applebee's. And it would be dang good chili, too.
Great chili is something else again. Great chili usually starts with something bizarre like searching for a 100 year old cast iron 12 quart pot, and cascades downhill from there.
