any of y'all been to darlington? thinkin' about goin' to the race mother's day weekend i assume there will be some Q joints around there any to recommend? what style do they have down there? it is pretty close to n.c., so i don't know if there will be vingarry sauce or mustard......don't know where the dividing line is

Hey P&L, My guess is you'll find pulled pork with vinegar/pepper around Darlington. I left you a link at the other place you posed this question. Also, I'd suggest doing a search for SC Barbecue here within the forum sections. If you had enough time it'd be worth the trip to head south on I-95 and go to Sweatman's outside of Holly Hill. Fridays and Saturdays only.

Actually, Darlington/Florence is sort of famous for their own type of sauce! It's a thin mustard sauce, if you can imagine that. Not thick like Maurices around Columbia, but more akin to a combination of Eastern NC sauce with a tangy mustard in..often orange colored. Good example is Rev Marvins sauce, and Colemans. I think the Marvin sauce is at www.revmarvin.com You'll find vinegar and pepper sauces there also. I have a list of most of the q joints in that area with the type of sauce that many serve. What kind are you looking for?

very interestin' thin mustard... not really looking for one thing over another just hopin' to have a somewhat serendipitous experience finding Q in all its glory where it is to be found as we go to races i figure that is good opportunity to experience different styles darlington sounds great....do you know a place called "skeets" that is one we hope to get to when we end up at the LADY IN BLACK is there a post, blog, page, site that follows nascar and Q through the south.....racin',beer, and bbQ sounds like a good weekend to me

ok, in that area... Roger's BBQ in Florence gets about the best reviews from the folks I've known, but no one really raves about it. You know, good Q, but not a mecca.
