off topic BUT not lighter fare request for prayer Thu, 04/5/07 11:43 AM (permalink)
Two Charlotte Police officers were shot and died a few days ago. Sean Clark and Jerrery Shelton were killed while responding to a "domestic dispute" (the MOST dangerous response for an officer). They never drew their weapons. Married w/ small children and one w/ a preggers wife we need to offer up our prayers...IMHO.

They serve at night when we sleep, deal w/ poor pay and terrible hours. Buy a cop a Coke tomorrow and say thanks.

It is a wonder that anyone would take that job. Prayers from TN headed their way.

Thank you for your prayers. The three local TV stations broabcast the first funeral from 11 am until 3 pm today. Shutdown all other progeamming. This town is hurting. Innocent unitl proven guilty but if the man they have in custody shot these two officers in the back w/o warning I hope Dante has a special ring for him.

The Charlotte Police are well respected and are fine folks.

Over twenty years ago we had a "problem" near my house in the late evening. I came out and having what is called a high and tight haircut approached the situation. The officer cast a look at me, I quietly told him I had a 45 Colt in the middle of my back. Let's keep it there he told me but then confessed his back up was at least ten minutes away. I got him to laugh when I went into my Goober (only those who have watched the Andy Griffith Show will understand) Citizen's Arrest, Citizen's Arrest spiel. I'm sure the young gentlemen causing the problem assumed I was a cop but off duty. I didn't limp so much in those days.

Nothing came of it but I got a traffic ticket dropped a few years later. I didn't ask for it and didn't even understand what had happened until later.

I take four or five coolers full of drinks and ice to the Lowe's motor Speedway each year during the big races for the NCHP. They have to stand in the hot sun and get little if any appeciation. Buy lunch tommorrow for a cop.

Thanks V, prayers are on the way.

I have several good friends that are LEO's, one is returning from Iraq in 10 days and trading his BDU's for his old Daytona Beach PD uniform. He will get a hero's welcome from many.

My prayers are also on the way.

Today, only about 10 miles down the road from me, a late middle-aged FBI agent was shot and killed by what was described as "a particularly vicious gang of bank robbers". These guys had already robbed a bunch of banks in some of the less affluent areas of NJ, and somehow the FBI figured out that their next target would be the PNC bank in my area. The FBI was correct, and one of their agents who was staking out this bank was killed in the process. As I write this, one of the perps is still at large, despite the scores of helicopters scanning the area, and local residents have been urged to keep their doors locked. Hopefully, the agent who lost his life will not be forgotten in the flurry of activity.

My heart goes out to FBI Special Agent Bush's family in this time of sorrow, as it does to Officer Clark's family and Officer Shelton's family.

Prayers are headed there. I have law enforcement people in my family. Nobody knows how tough it is.

I heard about this on the JB&B Big Show today. Totally a shame.

Domestic disputes ARE very dangerous. Four or five years ago here in San Antonio this poor chick finally had enough sense to leave here common law husband but called for a policeman to be with her while she moved out of her inlaws' house. Well, her stupid mother in law (in my hispanic culture it seems that the men are ALL mama's boys) called her son to say that his girlfriend was leaving. So he shows up in his delivery truck and fatally shoots both of them in the head in the bedroom. Just like that. I forgot what his sentence was but I know they were also able to prosecute his "mommy". Thank God!

BTW. The word was that they were AMBUSHED & shot dead from behind by a person totally UNRELATED to the "domestic dispute" call that they had just finished up...

I went out with a Mass. State Police cop for years. My utmost respect for all police officers. They lay their lives on the line (as do firefighters, military, and others) every minute that they work. They are awesome.

Prayers for the families of the fallen.

I know a lot of the Carrboro cops (not "professionally") and I buy a beer now and again.

I honestly don't know why people become police officers, but I'm glad they do.

                                  http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/01/officers.killed.ap/index.html

Just to see the faces of these men, brings the reality, too close to home.

Bless these men who serve the public, and their families who share in all of their personal/family sacrifices. God bless.

My heart goes out for these public servant and private family men. Each of them has family who love them, just as we hold our family members, close to our hearts.

                                  Prayers and love.

                                    Update.
The roads that were taken by the funeral procession (lined by thousands of citizens on that day) are now decorated w/ hundreds or thousands of blue ribbons on every vertical item.

Scammers are calling people for donations...another ring in Dante's H*** for them.

The city is still in mourning.

The domestic violance calls are extremely dangerious and occur far too frequently! Sadly, these situations occur much too often and often times catch well meaning and caring cops off guard. My wife is in law enforcement. I remind her regularly to be so ever careful.
I would much prefer to send you a positive message rather than what I've stated.
Please say a prayer for the fallen Officer's and their loved ones.
