Yay!  Now the dilemma.....what to eat.  I never thought of a baseball game as an eating destination!

          Just avoid this:  http://www.augustinespizza.com/ .

I can't believe what was once served in my high school cafeteria is now the "official pizza" of PNC Park!

It's a ball game. You eat hot dogs, peanuts and Cracker Jack. Never mind the other stuff. If I want a fish sandwich from Benkovitz I'll go to Benkovitz. Should I ever lose my mind and want a Primanti's sandwich I'll go to Primanti's.

Robin Ventura returns to DFW today as manager of the White Sox.  Better luck than last time:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8gE3PDkXk8&feature=related

Ventura gets away thanks to about 25 additional players/coaches, otherwise Ryan might still be pounding him!

If that's the case, who's Bobby Patrino going to blame for his middle age crisis stupidity???

One of the funniest line I heard in Regards to the Petrino situation was:
She should have gone first class instead she decided to ride coach.

Poor Miami ... first they do not sign Cespedes, a Cuban exile like many of their fan base, who is now crushing the ball for Billy 'Moneyball' Beane & the A's and now their manager, a native of Venezuela is quoted (out of context) as saying "I love Fidel Castro"!  Talk about dejar que un pedo en iglesia!

My goodness, what's next?  A pulled hammy for Reyes?  A broken wrist for Giancarlo (Mike) Stanton?

[link=mailto:cs@zachys.com?subject=Re:Bolgheri%20&%20Baseball][/link] Bolgheri & Baseball: Sassicaia's Baby Brother Is Back!! Good morning,
Every year the 3rd wine from Tenuta San Guido (the producer of Sassicaia) grows in popularity and the number of months we are WITHOUT this wine (i.e. SOLD OUT) increases in each vintage. Last year's release (the 2009) sold out at Thanksgiving and the new vintage has JUST ARRIVED!!! Not only is it back, but we were able to get odd size format bottles this year (Half Bottles & Magnums).
When will we sell out of the 2010 this year? August? September? October? Better that it is in your cellar than ours as we have a real tendency to sell this wine out.
As an ADDED KICKER for any of our "Local" customers who wish to take part in my "Half Case Specials" below…. 4 complimentary tickets* to the LEAGUE LEADING New York Mets (That's right...they are off to a fast start at 4 - 0!!) as they take on the San Francisco Giants at CitiField next weekend!
                              How can you go wrong?
If you love the warmth and lushness that this wine can provide…this offer is for you.
If you are a fan of good food and baseball (You can meet up with Danny Meyer's SHAKE SHACK or Drew Nieporent's ACELA CLUB)…this offer is for you.
If you like a red wine that over delivers for the price in half bottles or magnums….this offer is for you.
Basically a little something for everybody!
                              2010 Le Difese:
For clients out there who want to try Sassicaia without having to break the bank, then Le Difese is definitely for you. Le Difese is actually the third wine from the infamous Tenuta San Guido estate, made of 70% Cabernet, and 30% Sangiovese. Made in a delicious "stand-alone" style, it also is a great accompaniment to a wide array of everyday foods include pizza, pasta…and of course burgers! Le Difese has consistently been a very forward and expressively exuberant Super Tuscan in the last 3 vintages. An extremely elegant wine, Le Difese brims with sweet spices, a lush mid-palate that is generously loaded with fruit and a silky finish.

Looks like we'll be making our first visit to Target Field this year.  I gave Mrs. SC the choice of seeing the Brewers in June or the White Sox in September and she chose the latter (as I expected she would), so we'll hopefully have a nice weekend.

mr chips, you are three times welcome!

Sandy Koufax is by far the greatest pitcher I've ever seen, and I've seen all of them from Spahn, Gibson & Marichal to Verlander, Halladay, & Strasburg.

Like Williams, Feller, & DiMaggio, Hank Greenberg gave up 4+ prime years for the military.  In Greenberg's case that probably lopped 180 HR and 600 RBI from his lifetime stats.

Like Ralph Kiner, Al Rosen's career was ended in his prime by chronic back problems that probably would easily be fixed by 2012 medicine.  Healthy, his career would have rivalled Mike Schmidt's.  His 1953 MVP season (and near Triple Crown) is still the best offensive season ever by a third baseman.  Happily, he lives on at 88 just as Kiner does at 89.

(Actually, what got me thinking about this was John Stewart's "riff" about Easter v. Passover in a "marketing" sense, e.g., Christian kids get chocolate eggs while Jewish kids get a lamb's bone and a real egg.  Going on, he said we Christians get Tim Tebow to give an Easter sermon while Jews were more likely to get Elijah to take his seat at Seder than to have a great Jewish QBNext morning I looked up Al Rosen and found the link.)

It'll be fun to have the Astros in the AL West:  a great opportunity for mockery from Rangers fans.

An Austin/San Antonio team would be a nice addition for MLB.

Fantasy players (and I'm not one), please note from above that I have been touting Chris Davis, Younis Cespedes, and Josh Hamilton.  All of them have been mashing.

Hamilton suffered from pulled abs for most of last season and could not swing without wrenching pain; now that he's healthy look for a MONSTER year (if he avoids running into walls and defenders).

The Mets didn't want Philip Humber.  Neither did the Twins nor the Royals.

Saw Bryce Harper's MLB debut last night.  Lots of pop from a short stroke and a rifle arm.

Hamilton certainly had a monster game last night and Davis got himself into the record books recently for one of baseball's many oddities...

I watched Hamilton's American League record 18 total base game.  Three of the HR went out over center; one to left-center.  Two of them were actually off the end of the bat; his best contact was on the double off the CF wall!

I hope he "keeps it together" and stays intact and healthy.  What a talent!

Watching the Rangers-Orioles on TV from down here in Dallas I, as a former Orioles season ticket holder for the first four season at Camden Yards, was saddened to see all the empty seats in that magnificent ballpark.  What's going on up there in "Charm City" that they can't even support a winning team?

OMG!  Manny hits over .300 and drives in more than a run a game in AAA and the freaking, lowly A's don't call him up!

Where will Manny land?  Too bad the Pirates, Cubs, & Giants don't use the DH.  All three teams could use a little offense.

True.  You'll be waiting a while before Justin Smoak produces offense typical of a first baseman.  But, he is "cheap".

And what was up with the Mariners giving away Gio Gonzalez?  As a Rangers fan I was glad to see him leave the division!  At least the trade for Jesus Montero is working out for you; he has several years before the big money kicks in.  By then maybe the Rangers will need a catcher!
