I usually target no more than 5% of sales.

Subtly tell your customers to tell the owner they came in and to buy a dog and decided to fill up, you might get it free if enough do.

ok so we are now waiting fot a local video stores' final ok. they are pretty busy about 100-150 customers daily, also there is a coffee drive thru in the same parking lot with close to 200 customers daily, not to mention it is located across the highway from a v.a domiciliary which houses close to 10000 military vets. the store owner is asking 300-450 per month though. I think it is pretty high but I think the traffic could make it worth it. the rent would include storage of my trailer also so that will be convinient. what do you guys think? would I be crazy to pay that much? tony, i think that is way way too much. a couple hundred people is not that good of traffic. you might only sell to 10% of that traffic, which would put you at what..... 15-20$ in sales? you need more traffic, or half that in rent if you are gonna make it. just my nickel

THE OWNER IS ASKING 450 PER MONTH AND WE SAID THE ABSOLUTE MAX WE COULD DO WOULD BE 300. HE IS ON VACATION THIS WEEK AND WILL BE GETTING BACK TO US. SO THE STORE TRAFFIC IS WHAT I SHOULD RUN NUMBERS ON AND NOT THE HIGHWAY OR LOCAL POTENTIAL?

Business majors know the statement, Location, Location, Location. Large amount of traffic, easy access, visible from the street/highway. Plenty of parking. Before we go off into a tread of examples of shops that make it from their excellent products, (There are those shops), I am writing what is recommended by business boards and the SBA. Its going to take public recognition to get traffic in, (signs that can be seen/ advertising) and excellent food to keep them coming back. RJF
