restaurants still in business?

Several years back I bought old menus at a yard sale, I am curious to see if they are still in business. Topinka's Country House in MI, The Clarmont Steak House in OH and the Holiday Inn in NJ. They seem to be from the 60's. The dinner prices on the menu seem unreal by todays standards. Porterhouse steak $6.50, Maine Lobster 1 1/2 lb $5.45 Prime Strip Sirloin $4.50.

As of 1980, Topinka's Country House had lost a suit by the NLRB for refusing to honour a labor agreement. They claimed it was because they sold all their corporate stock and their liquor license. I'm guessing it didn't last much longer than that.

Felix thanks for the info, from the Menu description it seemed like a nice place.

Meggie, I am unaware of any stand alone restaurant called the Holiday Inn in New Jersey. In all probability, it was a menu from the restaurant of a Holiday Inn hotel/motel/motor lodge. If there is any address on it, you can use the Holiday Inn web site to see if the place is still one of their franchisees. If they changed brands, you can go to http://www.superpages.com/ Click on search options, click on advanced search, and play around with the fields to see if you get a match. It might now be a Ramada or Wyndham or Courtyard or an independent if the property got another franchise.

The Clarmont is still going strong. The owner of the Clarmont plans to shut down operations and build a new building with apartments and offices above the restaurant.
