I ate at Mandina's on the last night of my last trip to New Orleans. I had their oyster and artichoke soup for an appetizer and the seafood platter for the main dish. Everything was excellent and the service was outstanding. This is probably my favorite neighborhood type restaurant. When we were ready to leave my wife still had not finished her cocktail so the waitress offered her a to go cup. When it came back from the bar it was topped off. I love New Orleans!

RE: Uglesich's (Stephen Rushmore Jr.)

Slightly off topic, but here is my New Orleans Agenda:

http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=326

RE: Uglesich's (topferment)

Sundancer, the address is:
Napoleon House Bar & Cafe
500 Chartres St.
New Orleans, LA 70130
It's at the corner of St Louis and Chartres in the French Quarter. They have a full creole/cajun menu and what I think is one of the best muffuletta sandwiches in town. But it's worth going even if you just want a drink. Hope this helps.

RE: Uglesich's (Sundancer7)

quote:

Sundancer, boy do I envy you. I might see Stephen Rushmore there as he will be in NO for the JazzFest.

Paul E. I will be first in line. A picture will not do justice to the compactness of the place. More room outside but outside ain't much fun in NO in the summertime. Extremely humid place. Good thing they got cold beer and great food.

I stay at the Springhill suites which is only about a mile away. Even that is somewhat of an issue. If you don't mget there pretty early, parking is not easy.

Anyway, Uglesich's is worth it.

Paul E. One of the restauants I will definately visit is Uglesich's. I travel frequently to NO and their unique place is my favorite. I enjoy their oysters anyway they serve them. They have a unique way of serving. You stand in line, give Mr. Uglesich your order and when it is delivered, you get your table. sorta strange but it works. They do not have a lot of space, but that does not stop the people from coming. I wish they took a credit card. My company pays, but this is a cash only. Eats into my reserve. I always stay at the Springhill Suites which is only about a mile from their location and it is handy. They also have a very unique bloody mary. Very garlicy and tasty.

I will be in Montgomery, AL. I have never found a place that I enjoy there although I am sure there are many. Any pointers would be handy.

Paul E. smith
Knoxville, TN

Paul E.
