I always scour the floors of my grocery store to see what exotics they have, but can honestly say I've never seen or heard of this Cactus... I picture a sweet semi-soft green flavor from what you describe... Hmmmm... Might go good with the Sweet of the Pineapple and the bite of my Chili! Thank You!!
RE: Chili in 2 hours (EdSails)

I usually add a jar of "Nopalitos" to mine. That's cactus......and it looks similar to green pepper. Works very well----tastes good-------and always amazes people when they find out what it is!

RE: Chili in 2 hours (UncleVic)

quote:

This may be too far out there .. but
I once had a bowl of "Fire and Ice Chili" - it had pineapple tid bits in the chili. He said he just drained the small can of tid bits and dumped them in.

The name said it all it was HOT and the pineapple seemed to tame the heat and leave in the taste of the chili peppers.

I liked it.

Ya, it does sound a little far fetched, but it sounds good also! (Well, he knows better then to order me, it was more like a request)... But either way, I'm making my normal batch with Sundancer Chili Beans, Sirloin, onion, tomatos, V8, green pepper, etc... But I was curious on what you thought I might add to make it intresting? Maybe something that will kick up the flavor a bit! Your Thoughts??
