I noticed in 2006 that the Golden Corral set up shop at the Meijer in Westland. If they;re like the ones in Missouri, they should have a wonderful breakfast buffet.

Shoney's was in Michigan briefly in the 1990's. I welcomed them, but the one off I-94 kept running out of plates and other things. The manager would wander around and not notice the obvious.

Big Boy's CAN have a good buffet. The one in Westland showed promise.
Shoney's originated as a BIg Boy franchise in Alabama and Ga., B.T.W., per a Wall Street Journal article that I saw once many years ago.

There used to be a wonderful Sunday brunch buffet at the St. Helen and Constantine Greek Orthodox Church on Joy Rd. in Westland/Livonia/Plymouth/whatever. Don't know if they still do that or not. That was vintage 2000/2001, just before I left the state.

A golf course off of 8 Mile and Telegraph used to have a delightful Sunday brunch buffet. Not certain if they still do or not. EXCELLENT coffee, B.T.W.

Ryan's may have a good breakfast buffet. In Missouri they've pretty much disappeared and what's left are merged with Hometown (ex-Old Country) Buffet, but Hometown's taking a hit from Golden Corral which is expanding everywhere. Come to think of it, the only regularly scheduled breakfast buffet that I reemember in western Wayne County was Old COuntry, and it wasn't that good.

I neeverr thught about that, but now that you mention it, I realize that it is true. Next time i going to keep my mouth shut when I find a good breakfast buffet. Thanks for the tip.

The thing you have to remember about a good breakfast buffet (if you find one) is DON'T TELL anyone about it. The more people that know; the sooner the said buffet declines in quality.

If you are ever at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, on the east side of Hwy 54 is a place called Kay's. The food here isn't bad, but the breakfast buffet is cooked to order - so, it really isn't a breakfast buffet, you are ordering as much as you can eat off a limited menu. The price is right (less than $20 for two with 2 breakfasts, coffee and tip) and I'm a sucker for cinnamon toast with my eggs and French toast. Service is very fast. Kay’s also has a lunch buffet with sneeze guards.

Hmmmmmmm! Sounds like I need to take my wife on a 45 mile road trip to the Lighthouse Place Outlet Mall! Now my question, how far from the Lighthouse Place is M & M Cafe?

According to Rand McNally, M & M Restaurant at 1608 Michigan Blvd. is less than 2 miles east of Lighthouse Place at 601 Wabash St.

A few years ago I had occasion to stay with friends in Medina (Cleveland area), Ohio. My buddy told me he was going to take me out to a buffet for breakfast, something I was not looking forward to. It turned out to be great and the name of the place was Eat'N'Park! I would happily do that again.

Not a buffet, but who needs one: best fried taters in mid west can be found at M&M cafe, Michigan City, Indiana. Ask for the breakfast mess. Get the half size. you will not be disappointed. here's to good eats. jealous alice

But there isn't any Golden Corrals within 75 miles of me!

A friend of my 17 year old son, just got back from five days in Flordia, He ate at Golden Corral 3 times in five days!!

Golden Corral here has always been good. Old Country Buffet has been pretty good but not as good as Golden Corral.

Our local Shoneys closed years ago. I sure do miss their breakfast buffet. Greasy as heck, but it just seemed right for late on a Saturday night.

There used to be a place in KC called Costello's Greenhouse, located on Wornall Road a bit north of the Wornall Shopping Center. Talk about a great Sunday brunch! Omelettes made to order, of course. And a waffle bar that stretched from here to there.

I agree that the Embassy Suite has a great breakfast buffet. You get what you want cooked to order with the exception of normally dispensed foods such as breads, cereals, drinks and etc. I think Marriott is try to improve their breakfast as they now do cook to order but they are not there yet.

The only breakfast buffet that I would ever eat at is an Embassy Suites Hotel. There you can pick up a plate and hand it to the cook and tell him how and what you would like in your omelette. He prepares it for you while you watch. He then asks if you would like bacon or sausage (or both) and he will put same on your plate. You get your juice and coffee from dispensers and sit down and enjoy food that a few dozen people have not been digging through.

The Casinos that lined the Biloxi coast had excellent food on the brunch and dinner buffets.

We enjoyed them more for the food than the entertainment.

They are slowly making a comeback after Katrina but the Coast has a LONG road to recovery.

Haven't been to Atlantic City yet - but it would be hard to beat the Grand or Beau Rivage brunches...

We enjoyed a Sunday Brunch on our visit to relatives in Michigan last Summer. It was at the Gandy Dancer in Ann Arbor. It is a really nice brunch...Not a down-home kinda place, but the food was quite good. The restaurant is in the old Railroad Station (Duh!!) and trains rush by outside as you enjoy all the usual fancy breakfast items as well as some pretty nice luncheon stuff too. Uncle paid so I wasn't aware of the cost but it wasn't a $9.95 special !!

There were only 2 or 3 post on all these pages about all you can eat for Breakfast in the Mid-West States or the Great Lakes. Anybody know why? I would really like to know about GOOD all you can eat breakfast Bars in Indiana and Michigan!

I haven't been to Indi., for quite sometime, I haven't seen the Indiana State fair in at least 6 years and the Indi Zoo and Children Museum in at least 9 years, so You got me thinking about a road trip to Indi.

Garry, It's always seemed to me really good breakfast buffets, at least on weekends, have been found in the downtown or Northside hotels in Indy.

Maybe not Roadfood, but it answers your question in a positive manner, unlike...well you get the idea.

I just thought a good hometown type of buffet or breakfast bar was roadfood, something to look forward to, not rubberry eggs, dry toast, or hard bundt bacon, but good homesome, tasty food.

I know. That's why I don't eat in places that have to have them. You see, there's a reason they have to have them. I don't eat where people are sneezing on the food. Good breakfast buffet is an oxymoron.

That is not true!!!

I enjoy a breakfast buffet several Sunday's a year at Shoney's in Knoxville after church with my family. It is always fresh, tasty and very good.

In addition the entire church group enjoys the same.
