Then I either add an Irish Stew or Balnamoon Skink.

I invite others to join in. Sometimes they cook, most of the time, they just bring Bailey's...but that's not so bad.

One friend brought that "green" Portugeuse wine...forget the name, but it's like Granny Smith apples and now it's one of my favorites.

Something verde, I guess. Anyway, it's allowed because it's green...and GOOD. We rarely do corned beef...unless somebody else has cooked it and we can just pick it up.

RE: ST Patty's Day (kland01s)

Went to a local Mexican place on Saturday and they had a sign up for their corned beef and cabbage night........how wrong is that?

RE: ST Patty's Day (roossy90)

Check out the misc forum/cooking techniques, there is a thread started with some killer recipe's on it.

RE: ST Patty's Day (jeepguy)

This thread has me craving a Shamrock Shake!!!We'll be doing corned beef but probably not with cabbage on St Patty's Day.If it's cooked just right,it's incredible.

RE: ST Patty's Day (Rick F.)

My younger daughter was born on St. Paddy's Day, so CB & C has been a tradition in our house forever. Used to be one of the most affordable cuts ... great for longgggg smoking too.

RE: ST Patty's Day (ScreenBear)

Eating corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite things. Funny, it's such a simple thing, yet I so enjoy it. I like the idea of us all being Irish that day.

However, it is the one day of the year I will not eat a green bagel. All the other days of the year, yes, a green bagel with my green eggs and ham will be fine, I opine. But on this day I draw the line. I don't know why, I say with a sigh.
The Bear

RE: ST Patty's Day (jinjo76)

quote:

jinjo, which did you prefer?

Ham.

Actually, what we use is more like bacon.
RE: ST Patty's Day (xannie_01)

jinjo, which did you prefer?

RE: ST Patty's Day (jinjo76)

quote:

when i was growing up, we never had corned beef and cabbage; it was always boiled ham, cabbage and potatoes..my mother referred to this as "pig's ass and cabbage" we'd pour ketchup over the cabbage..thought it was great..but what was even better is when she took all the leftovers, threw it in a pan with butter and plenty of pepper..we'd rather have that than the ham and cabbage. anyone else ever had this?

Yes, I've had both; leftovers cooked the same.
