We're not much on game in this household- don't hunt, don't even own a gun, and our cats never bring home anything we'd eat.
Never-the-less we had a friend who was a great hunter - a guy who came home with a fat deer an hour after the season opened each year.( and many many more deer as the season progressed - don't ask about permits!) He was kind enough to share his venison with us and we always enjoyed it. The dirty little secret was that he shot nothing but deer that had spent the Summer and Fall fattening up on field and sweet corn and apples and other goodies begrudginly provided by local farmers and gardeners, and that he had carefully staked out throughout the off season - he knew every deer he shot by its first name!

With very few exceptions (Genoa salami, prociutto, lobsters, etc.) I eat nothing but game meat and gamefish that I have hunted and caught.

Unless I overcook something I never have dry or flavorless meat.

It's still hard to believe that those beautiful animals you see on a farm are those delicious meals on your plate. But even so, I have never thought about becoming a vegetarian. Meat is just too good.

I live in Greenville, sc, and eat at saskatoons quite a bit, if your ever this way you must check it out, I always get the elk tenderloin....this place is a great place to dine. God gave us the animals to eat, most of them anyway. Great billboard, I know the peta people hate it.

I recently saw a bumper sticker that said, "If God Didn't Want People To Eat Animals He Wouldn't Have Made Them Out Of Meat." I was laughing so hard I almost drove off the road.

Improvisor- Do they sell T shirts?? There used to a place online where you could buy 'PETA-People Eating Tasty Animals' shirts..but they do not carry them any more...I have a feeling that the real PETA got after them with hteir lawyers! Now I have to be satisfied with designing my own on www.zazzle.com....

Mayor, the job you are talking about is not my cup of tea. I enjoy responding and talking about topics, but to be the police of off topics and other offending topics is something I do not want to be a part of.

I believe you would be the best as you enjoy good political reponses and you can bring responders back to the point. You are excellent at what you do and I support you.

I had the Ostrich in Knoxville at Regas several years ago. That was my first and last. I paid a lot of money and quite frankly, I would rather had a big Mac. For some reason, wild game does not get it with me. Perhaps it is the way my taste has been developed, due to being grain fed. I cannot enjoy it any other way.

I hate to think that I left you veggie-freaks out of the humor, so I am searching for something to brighten your day also.
BTW for all of your info...the deal on the Moderator thing is not closed yet. I did talk with Stephen via email and it is strictly a "Police the Boards" for off-topic and gross-outs. I have no problem with that and will await word from the Management concerning their decision. There has NOT been any discussion of regional boards or sub-sets, but I have read the comments of some of you about that and agree , if it is possible we should consider it.

Hi all,

First time poster, long time lurker. That sign is actually located in my neck of the woods: Greenville, SC. The restaurant advertised, Saskatoon's, is a place that features wild and exotic game on the menu. I've only been there once for my junior prom actually. Had the ostrich which to me tasted like a very lean steak. Very very tasty. They also serve bear and, I believe, gazelle.

Regarding "What would Jesus Eat?" I study the bible regularly and I was encouraged when Jesus turned the water into wine. He could have made a bad choice and elected Diet Pepsi, Dr. Pepper or even worse some type of Kool-Aide.

When he created all the fishes, I knew PETA was finished.
