Maybe good for breakfast with a couple scrambled eggs w/cheddar next time.

No, no. I wasn't dumping on you. I'm looking forward to trying them. They seem to be of a size that will allow for quick cooking in a grill pan, and that's a neat idea. I bought the particular one I got because that was the only beef item they had. The rest of the No Name stuff was chicken.

RE: No Name Steaks (jeepguy)

Michael, please take it easy on me, i Did say they "weren't that good". I was only curious about these things. I went ahead and bought one box of some sort of steak and tossed it in the freezer. It seemed expensive.

RE: No Name Steaks (Rick F.)

quote:

Rick F.
I will have to humblely disagree about Louisania dieterty habits. I found Meijer's and Allen Brothers, and I think that you're referring to a steak from Meijer's as a "no-name steak." But what's the problem? Around my house fancy and expensive is for splurges; the rest of the time we eat. . . well, in Louisiana we eat just about anything that isn't moving too fast and isn't trying to eat us. "Not that bad" may not be high praise, but at least it's neither poisonous nor downright noxious!

RE: No Name Steaks (jeepguy)

LOL, i had a feeling this wouldn't go over well here. Well i bit. I've wanted to try these but not for the regular price. I got the 4.5 oz Petite Cut (all they had left)- six portions. Actually better than an Allen Bros Dry Aged ribeye.... But you know, for a quick weeknight dinner for myself it was pretty tasty. These things are tenderized to the hilt but it tasted good too! At 10 bucks i thought it was a pretty decent find. And BTW i have an Allen Brothers catalog sitting right here. Truly remarkable. Probably not gonna fit into this year's budget though.
