I love meats in many a variety, and I love veggies almost as much. In fact, my wife whom called me a few minutes ago wanted to knoow (bless her heart) if there was anything she could bring home for me... I asked for some veggies to go with the left over dip I made yesterday.

I know this seems to be not on topic, but my thought is.... I LOVE food in most of it's guises. I don't want organ meat in most cases, but pretty much everything else is a target. I started hunting at the age of 8, and have a liberal sense of what is eatable :-)

BTW, I have no issue with someone that is vegetarian, I love veggies too. In fact, I asked my wife that she pick up a few veggies on her way home tonite as a veggie/dip thing is what I’m in the mood for.

But anyone that wants to be judgemental regarding any one else's tastes on a food forum, I would have issue with if *they* have issues with the rest of the posters. Veal, beef, pork, fish, etc., are all on the menu in my house :-)

Regards,

Casper

RE: the BEST veal chop (Twinwillow)

quote:

<---doesn't eat veal because I used to work on a dairy farm in Israel.. but thats my choice... my GF and son are veggheads... doesn't make me a bad person cause I still eat meat.. enjoy the veal.. We cattle ranch in southern New Mexico as most of our neighbors and friends do. Our animals run free and graze. We tend to their welfare and make life as enjoyable as possible for them, while aware of their ultimate destiny. To watch a young calf run with it's Mom kicking up it's heels brings a smile to our faces. You will not find a rancher in Lincoln County who raises veal. Don't believe I've ever eaten any. Please know, I don't think poorly of those who enjoy a veal dish. I'm not wishing to judge those who do. As for me and others who put good beef on your table, we don't wish to make a buck from producing veal.
Respectfully,
Rouxdog
Carrizozo, NM

RE: the BEST veal chop (rebeltruce)

quote:

If like veal chops, I had a fabulous one at Da Dominico on Chain Bridge Road in Vienna, VA. The sides with it could have been better and perhaps they are on a regular evening.

I have had the Veal Chop at Da Dominico, it is the best I've ever had.

It is actually their signature dish. Always have. My mother used to do a fantastic stuffed breast of veal when I was a kid. I love veal chops, parmigana, Marsala, piccata, pizziaole and my all time favorite, veal osso bucco.
Which I will be doing next month for a friends birthday party.
I have Wholefoods cut real big ones for me and tie them so they don't fall off the bone during the 2 hour braise. And, of course I do a risotto Milanese with saffron and peas to accompany the veal.

RE: the BEST veal chop (Twinwillow)

quote:

Micheal
I have a problem with the inhumane methods of raising calves for food, therefore I have a problem with those who choose to eat veal. The way chickens or even farm raised fish are cooped up is no better. I can understand (even though I disagree with it for me) the vegan rationalization because it holds that any animal killing or usage is not right. However, IMHO, once you go down the path there isn't much difference. New Years Eve I steamed a 5.7-lb. lobster. Honestly, I don't see thatas any different from the way veal is processed. We're just higher and the food chain and so we can decide to make that decision or not. Mermaid72, I can appreciate your feelings about it, and you have every right to decide not to consume veal. However, to put down others simply because they decide to eat something is not right. Enjoy everything you want----and let us know all about what you do enjoy.
And welcome to Roadfood-----we're really a pretty good bunch!

RE: the BEST veal chop (Michael Hoffman)

quote:

Micheal
I have a problem with the inhumane methods of raising calves for food, therefore I have a problem with those who choose to eat veal. No problem with other types of meats.
This seems to be a bit of an ouchy board, this is my first posting here, and I was hoping for a bit more intelligent and thoughtful type of poster profile. Guess not!

Before you get into discussing intelligence, I suggest that you learn to spell the names of those with whom you exchange posts.

Now, you asked rhetorically whether people still eat veal. I answered you. You do not care for the way some veal operations function? OK. Would you rather the calves just be allowed to die and then be plowed under, which is what would likely happen if they were not raised for slaughter as vealers. If you do not wish to eat veal, don't. If you wanted to discuss veal you went about it in a way that invited the sort of response you received.

Have a lovely day.

RE: the BEST veal chop (roossy90)

quote:

People still eat veal?
