Naturally I didn't see your post until I returned from our Minnapolis trip. But do not fret; we have two more trips planned for this summer. We will make a point of trying Saffron when we return either in July or August.

Thanks for the info!

Buddy

Middle Eastern in Minneapolis (zataar)

For BuddyRoadHouse:
The newest buzz concerns an upscale mezze place called Saffon. Not your usual falafel - tabouleh place. It's in the Warehouse District.

http://www.saffronmpls.com/menu.html

For more moderate fare, there are many places to choose from in the Northeast area and Columbia Heights. We enjoyed Crescent Moon, at 2339 Central Ave, NE, but it's been a number of years. It's an Afghani place that is pretty quirky, but the food was great.
Holyland, north of Crescent Moon by about 12 blocks (?) has a great buffet during the day, I'm not sure about evening hours. My daughter liked the Olive Tree in Columbia Heights, farther north than Holyland.

We had very decent carryout from Sinbad's on Nicolett some time back. Good spinach pie and lentil salad.
