Quite honestly, I wish Pearson's had never moved. I know there were problems with the neighbors and the smoke but the new location is hard to get to, parking is non-existent and it's in the back of a small bar. They sure make it hard for you to come there!

Just heard a guy on the radio last night say he knows good barbeque from around the country (yeah, I've heard that before and most times it turns out to be bogus) and he also knows that there has never been good barbeque in NYC. (I concur)
Now he swears by a new place called Daisy Mae's? in the forties on Eleventh Avenue.
Anyone heard of it, or been there?
My favorites: Jack's Barbeque in Nashville (and Jack probably will be there and is super nice), Texas Pride on the outer loop in San Antonio vicinity, Goode Company in Houston, Angelo's in Ft. Worth, Solly's in Dallas, and Bill's in Kerrville. Texas seems to rule. Tried many in the South, but most disappoint.

Went to Pearson's last week. The brisket was authentic. No sauce. Moist with a beautiful rosy ring. My friend's ribs were full of flavor. They even let me in the back to see the smoker. It rotates. This is good stuff. It's not Lockhart, but what is. Definitely the best bbq in the city. They even have Lone Star beer.

Not in Queens, but Smokey Joe's in Stamford, CT (exit 9 off I-95) has good brisket at just $10 per pound to take out. In addition, they have ribs, sandwiches and other BBQ fare that can be eaten at picnic tables in the dining area.

Hmmm. . . I'll have to try their brisket. I had the ribs last time I went and I was dissappointed. Still, a nice eating experience and I'll definitely go back. Really pleased to see another Jazz club (downstairs) on the NY scene as well.

Nex time any of you NYC types are driving upstate and have a yen for BBQ you might try "Max's" near Red Hook in Dutchess County or
"The Branstormer" in a small mall off Broadway in Newburgh, Orange County. We had a new BBQ open here in New Paltz last week,
"Dawn'sdish". We had a chopped pork sandwich and the meat was excellent, but the red sauce was way too much tomato for my taste.
We plan to visit there again this week and see what else she has to offer.

I know that Danny Meyers' Blue Smoke on 27th St. has had its youthful ups and downs but I lunched there a few days ago and the brisket was incredible. May be worth another try for any New Yorker craving good barbeque.

A friend and I were discussing Pearson's today. We went there for lunch a few months back and were incredibly underwhelmed. We've agreed to try again, figuring that anyone can have an off day. I've heard so many good things about it, I'm hoping I was just a victim of bad timing.

I drove up there today and waited on line for a large rack of pork ribs that were smoky but not all that tender. Pearson's in Jackson Heights (Queens) is currently my favorite place in this category, until I again get to visit my relatives in Austin, TX.
