I think they were wrapped partway with gold foil and celophane all around. Had their own unique flavor and texture. Kind of cherry-ish and soft yet sort of crumbly too. I loved those. I remember the treasure chests too. I loved them and I'm not sure why because I don't recall the candy being that great or the little trinkets. Must've been all about the treasure chest.

Re:Original Candy Lipstick (FriedClamFanatic)

Alas, not into cross-dressing as a child, I don't remember them.........but those candy cigarettes.......OMG..........there was taste to them that was wonderful. I could only "look cool" for about 5 seconds before eating them

I know, no longer PC and probably caused me to go onto a life-ling nicotine binge..but damn they were good
Re:Original Candy Lipstick (mar52)

 Yes! They tasted horribly good.
Re:Original Candy Lipstick (JanetPelle)

Oh I used to love those! Glad
you also remember the Candy Treasure Chests. Those were wonderful days when you could actually get candies or bubble gum for 1 cent.
The days of the "Pull Lever" candy vending machines, and the glass
returnable bottle pepsi's and coke, and 7-up. There were also gum
that came in a flat almost wallet sized pack. The flavors were Grape,
Apple, Regular, and maybe one other. Does that gum sound familiar? I
can't recall the name of it, but it was available in the 70's.

I know growing up as a kid in the 70's there were great candies- and actually penny and 2cent candies. I remember the Candy Treasure Chests too.

RE: Original Candy Lipstick (nicolem)

quote:

If I remember correctly they were like a sort of red in color, and were made of some sort of soft ingriedient. They were very good in taste and I ate many growing up as a kid. Does anyone remember the little Candy Treasure Chests you could get filled with
candy, but I also think they contained small toys too. What happened to ALL the great candy ideas of the 60's, 70's and even part of the 80's?

I know growing up as a kid in the 70's there were great candies- and actually penny and 2cent candies. About 2 to 3" long and sold with other penny candies in the 60's and 70's. It was very sweet and kind of grainy, chalky. You could actually color your lips with it; probably the red dye. Now they try to sell the "candy lipstick" with sweet tarts and a plastic cover...YUK!
