Our local market is now stocking Mexican Cokes in the tall 355ml bottles. (99 cents) i have to find my metric conversion chart to see what 355 ml equals, I think it is close to 12 oz.

Ours too along with Orange Fanta for a buck a piece.

Funny how the price of soda (pop) seems to jump up and down in large amounts for no visible reason. The coming of a summer holiday used to generate 'sale prices' as teasers for other summer meal foods, but now prices are on a roller coaster all summer long. Today The A&W, 7UP, Dr Pepper are all 4 12pks for $11 (sale price), Coke stuff is 3 for $10 and Pepsi is $4.50 a 12 pk. That will change next week when Coke will go up and Pepsi will have a 'Buy 3 for $10 and get a 4th 12pk of ANY Pepsi Diet Product free.
Funny how the prices 'rotate! My Vernor's is priced with the A&W bunch so I watch them carefully!.

I have to play with my calculator when I use Costco Coupons, as the the Costco Pepsi and Coke come in 30 can cases. Unit pricing is the only way to figure what is or isn't a bargain!

The Dr Pepper with real sugar is available around here in the DFW area. It appears to be a special celebrating 125 years of Dr Pepper. Found 12 packs at Walmart and other stores for about 4 or 5 dollars. I did stock up.

Another bottler that uses real sugar that I haven't seen mentioned yet is from Newfields, NH. I used to have their cream soda after candlepin bowling in Hampton Beach when I was a kid 40 years ago. I went back last year and the soda tasted just like I remembered it. They have some unusual flavors, too, like Maple Cream that are very good.

Here in the Syracuse NY area our Dollar General stores have Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback soda made with sugar! 12 pack cans $2.99!

Green Hills Grocery in Nedrow now has a big display of Dr. Pepper made with sugar. Not sure if it's a permanent thing, but I bought a 12 pack for $6. I don't drink much soda but I had to get one, and I'm going to get one with HFCS and compare the taste.

I know we all have our opinions. But to me all Sodas taste the same. Overly sugary and too sweet. I don't drink soda at all. There are other things I'd rather eat or drink that would raise my blood sugar levels.

I found a store near me that sells most of the Hanson's Natural Soda line. They have always been made with real cane sugar as far as I know. The flavors are a little more grown up. Like grapefruit and Key lime. The lemon-lime is also very good. Still looking for Vernor's in cans here though.

I picked up some of the "Throwback Pepsi" and although it didnt knock me off my seat with a kick of nostalgia...it was still very good.

I didnt realize that Dr. P is still made with "real" sugar (why I have to put this in quotes still pisses me off)...and I would love to try some of that since Dr. P is still my 2nd favorite soda...only surpassed by PA Dutch Birch Beer...12 ozs of "crack in a can".

Today, while purchasing some Pork Butts..another story on RF... I saw "Mexican Cokes" in the cooler by the registers. The U.S. Cokes were $1.49 for a 20 oz, The illegal Alien Cokes ( ) were Sugar-based and in a 'pop-top' 12 oz bottle for 99 cents each.

After considering the choices I bought 3 12 packs of Vernor's Ginger Ale for $9.00 and left with my Pork.

RED ALERT!!!!!

I was in Las Vegas last week, and I stopped (as always) at the Coca Cola store**...and lo and behold, what do they have stocked to the gills in their coolers?? Why 16 oz GLASS bottles of....Mexican Coca Cola!!!!!!! I find it kind of ironic that they try like heck to keep it out of the little bodegas, but here they are PUSHING it at what I assume is one of their Corporate Showcases....

** I actually had my picture taken with the freaking Coke Polar Bear one time.....

The one soda I identify with Texas is BIG RED. It was, but no longer is limited in sales to Texas and other southern states. I am not sure if it originated there...but I saw my first can-vending machine dedicated to BIG RED 30 or so years ago in Texas.

I have noticed something unusual about Texas. There are no handcrafted sodas of the calibre of Foxon Park. Searching around, I cannot understand why this has not happened.
This seems odd, but I wonder if this is due to the influx of sugar based sodas from Mexico. There are inflated prices just because of shipping but that does not discourage sales.
I would rather drink a local crafted soda made by Texans, for Texans for BBQ. Yosemite Sam would drink a sarsaparilla, but he can't find it here.
Here in Austin is a small company making ice teas with sugar, but using Google, I cannot find a single soda brewery in this state.
ATTN: Mission Control Houston. There is room for possibilities here...

The major players around here have been releasing "throwback"s of coke and pepsi products with the old graphics on the bottle and sugar instead of hfcs. The sugar actually tastes less sweet than hfcs soda. But what I want to know is, if I can remember when these bottle designs came out what dose that say about me? Does that make me a throwback also.

Our Sav-A-Lot in Georgetown just started selling Mexican pop - Sangria and Apple - in 1.5 liter bottles - for $1.39.

They started with the Sangria and added the Apple just this week.

I bought a 12 pack of Heritage Dr Pepper at alocal store a few days ago. I think it has a smoother taste than regular Dr Pepper.

Vernors is stocked on the shelves by the A&W/Big Red/Canada Dry bottler in this area. Our local "Jay C" Markets, a Kroger off-shoot, has it at 4- 12pks for $11 this week. I got 3 Vernors and a Squirt to keep me going thru the Superbowl !!! The normal price there is $4.98 a 12 pk. Many Liquor Stores carry Vernors 6 packs at the price you mentioned.

I priced the throwback Pepsi & Mtn Dew at Walmart yesterday. $4.68 per 12 pk. When I can get Vernors for $3.33 a 12 pk, I'll skip the Pepsi. Price does matter to me.

Jeepers... I can only find Vernors for almost 5 bucks for a six pack in these parts. Wegmans used to carry it for a lot less, but they no longer carry it at all (at any Wegmans stores I've looked at... 4 or 5 in my area). It's about the only soda I really drink.
