Actually, i never saw Spumoni or had heard of it, besides Edy's. I'd guess supply and demand, pending each market's area...maybe it was just localized to a certain part of the country?

Plenty of Blue Bell in Florida, their Banana Split beats the heck out of Ben and Jerry's, Key lime Pie a fav also, haven't seen the Creole Cream Cheese.

TNT since you seem to have the inside track on Blue Bell, why did they stop making Spumoni? I'm not a big ice cream eater, but that's one flavor I really liked. Edy's had it for a while as well, just not enough interest?

and current prices and availability on key ingredients, such as cherries/peaches and such. not the case with cream cheese, i know.

Blue Bell's pretty common throughout NOLA, in fact, I'd say it's probably the # 1 brand here. What I don't get is how they offer certain flavors for a short time, I imagine it's all based on sales figures.

Creole Cream cheese just comes in 3 gallon tubs, for Blue Bell. And yes, Blue Bell is in 16 or so states now, from Arizona to Floriday, up to N.C/KY and back across the midwest.

I've seen Blue Bell Ice Cream in grocery stores hereabouts. It is widely sold in the Atlanta/Athens axis of Georgia. However, to tell the truth (boooing-bzzt-bzzt!), I've never looked for Creole Cream Cheese flavor. If I stop by my nearby Kroger when I leave here, I'll try to remember to see if it's there, and report back to y'all.

I think Blue Bell is only sold here in Texas- I don't think it is marketed anywhere else. But they may have made a Creole Cream Cheese flavor for those that live close to the Louisiana border!

Yeah, I was afeared that Creole Cream Cheese Ice Cream couldn't be found outside the area, but never knows. Stranger things have happened.

I guess I will have to end up making it and thanks for the recipe info.

I will have to make the ice cream, although I have a strong aversion to nutmeg, guess maybe add a tad more cinnamon? Cream cheese and ice cream are 2 of my favorite foods, although I will not have access to Creole crean cheese. I love blueberry and strawberry cheesecake ice creams.

There's a local company in NOLA called Brown's Velvet who make and sell it in area grocery stores. About a year and and half ago I had a sample test-tasting of it made by Blue Bell but it wasn't as tangy or the the same taste as what the natives are used to. I don't know if Blue Bell marketed it or not, or if it was just one of those limited flavors that seem to come and go.

I've never seen Creole Cream Cheese Ice Cream anywhere but in New Orleans, although -- come to think of it -- I think it is sold in Baton Rouge and maybe even Lafayette.
What I want to try in Lafayette is Mello Joy Coffee Ice Cream!
Not Anywhere Near Freezing, Ort. Carlton in Above 32 Degrees Outside Athens, Georgia.
P. S. A good unique local flavor of ice cream is Goo-Goo Cluster Ice Cream, made only in Nashville by Purity Dairy.

Creole is not something I would usually associate with Detroit or Seattle.

And, while not exactly what you mentioned, I had the delightful opportunity to have some Creole Praline ice cream in Mobile, AL this past weekend. I could not figure out how "creole praline" would work as an ice cream, but it was fabulous.

IIRC, the name of the place was Cammie's Dutch Ice Cream Shoppe on Old Shell Road, not far from Dreamland BBQ. Given Mobile's proximity to New Orleans, the creole aspect makes a lot more sense - even if I have no idea who thought to do it to ice cream!

I had this in New Orleans more years ago than I care to remember.

Has anyone every seen it sold anywhere else?

I'll be in Ann Arbor in February and would love to look for it either there or in Detroit. Seattle is another option.
