No one has said this yet I think, but I reckon it looks a bit like a "photoshopped" version of a picture of the Varsity in Atlanta. At least it looks very similar to me, though not the same. Did anyone ever respond about your theory, BB? I wonder if is an imaginary combo of the two?!

My copy of the book is supposedly at my post office per Amazon's tracker but there is no notice in my p.o. box! I best go find out on Monday! Hmmmph.

I've got 11 cases of books (with a couple more to add) to sell to A Cappella Books in Atlanta (and Decatur) in my hopefully-transfixed van. Lemme see if A Cappella has it in stock, or if can they order me up a copy... I'd rather buy it from an independent anyday than a dadgum chain bookstore that could be anywhere.

I ordered my copy from Amazon on Tuesday and got it yesterday. When I excitedly opened the box, my wife's reaction was, "Is that all you think about, food?" That question took me back a few years ago when I traveled a lot for my job. I always tried to stay away from the chains to enjoy various local eateries. Upon my return, I'd share my culinary adventures with her and her typical response was, "Is that all you do on these trips"? Well, duh. That wasn't all that I did, but it was a pretty important part of the trip.

Yeah, Greymo, after your previous post I did some Googling to see what you were talking about. My feelings are the opposite. I don't like his views, but I have no problem with him expressing them, or saying "those people" were not welcome. I still like his restaurants though.

Oh, I am sorry that you misunderstood what I wrote. I have no quarrel with their political views. I have a quarrel with the owner proudly announcing to the newspapers that certain political figures were not welcome in his restauant!

I received my copy of the new edition of Roadfood yesterday. My son remembers our having a copy of Roadfood in the car for every trip we ever took. He, excitedly, started flipping through it and discovered an error almost immediately. The map for New York State shows Dinosaur Barbeque, but it is not listed in the index and the review seems to have been omitted!

Too bad this happened. I would have rather that Doug's Fish Fry, because of the owner's political agenda, had been left out. It would have served him right.

I'll be buying a copy today ... from a local, Main Street bookseller, not Barnes & Noble or another major chain.

It is kind of in the spirit of RF to support the Ma and Pa places -- even booksellers.

They are intertwined together as two parts of one culinary ideal. Jane and Michael Stern,(usually Michael) are part of this site too.
I suspect that many people have come to this site due to their books. I bet that we will see a whole new group of people here after reading this new edition.

Yeah, but it is a BIG burger.
I did not know that this book was forthcoming and now available. Amazon usually has me pegged and alerted when it comes to unusual cookbooks and especially the Stern's books.

I picked it up at Barnes & Noble this afternoon.

There are a ton of new places I haven't heard of before.

I do have one complaint about the book......that it didn't come out earlier! For example, I wish I had known about Jamie's Soda Fountain in Kokomo before my recent trip to central Indiana. Oh well, I guess it gives me a reason to go back!

I'm really looking forward to flipping through it tonight.
