HERE HERE!!!---and i too buy all natural peanut butter---ground right there into the container i take it home in and with NO added ingredients at all--why??healthier?--maybe--"Greener"?--maybe---but really-BECUSE IT TASTES GOOD!!!

Beware: if a package simply lists "hydrogenated oil," without expressly stating whether it is partially or fully hydrogenated, it may not be trans-fat free. Sometimes the terms "hydrogenated" and "partially hydrogenated" are used interchangeably. If the package clearly states that it contains fully hydrogenated oil, then it will be trans-fat free. Since stricter labeling laws came into effect, trans fats are more transparent than they used to be, and many food manufacturers continue to look for healthier alternatives for their products.

I can't speak for anyone else, and I don't claim to be hiding in the ingredient room at Kraft Foods, I just know Cool Whip gives me a sick tummy.

As for it being in many foods, that's why I buy the natural peanut butter.

Also you are talking about Cool Whip like it's this great new taste sensation. It's been around since God was a boy.

Hey ChilliAnything, I've been known to eat Cool Whip. I prefer my own whipped cream so I can add lots of vanilla in just like my grandmother used to do. Commercial whipped creams such as Reddi-Whip don't give me enough vanilla satisfaction for the calories and cholesterol so I'd rather have Cool Whip. Cool Whip is one of those ready targets for guardians of unhealthy foods, which as you pointed out include cake mixes and popular peanut butters. However I understood that Cool Whip does indeed have trans fats but below the amount needed to list on a label. It has its place, but like ketchup on a hot dog or Miracle Whip on a sandwich, you'll find few defenders here. I did look up your other posts and I think you are just someone who likes Cool Whip. Its not like you kick puppies for fun.

You guys are so close to being right. It's not hydrogenated oils that contain trans fat. It's actually "Partially Hydrogenated Oils" that have the trans fat. Cool Whip doesn't have trans fat, nor does it have cholesterol. Hydrogenated Oil is probably in a lot of foods you eat anyways like peanut butter and cake mixes. You guys should really check it out.

Yes & it's in a lot of things you would never dream of. Starburst? Twizzlers? Come on!!!

I have asked Kraft twice now if they would not consider an alternate source, we shall see if they do it.

Yes, it is full of transfat, the absolute worst "food" ingredient if one is concerned with cardiovascular health issues. And, yes, it does indeed taste horrible in comparison with real whipped cream.

Several times each year we drive thru Avon, NY where Cool Whip is made. If there is a first-timer with us I usually tell them that this is the town where Cool Whip is porduced and would they like to vist the Cool Whip outlet store?

Most take it seriously although the more-perceptive see right thru my attempt at levity!

Hi, Allyk, and that peanut butter pie sounds wonderful as well! Yes, other than that and the four-layer dessert, I can't stand Cool Whip or other "nonameo" whipped topping. Yuck yuck yuck. Hydrogenated oil suspended in some ersatz concoction.

Your brother-in-law sounds like some of my relatives, who also love Cool Whip on, of all things, homemade blackberry cobbler! My gosh. For me, the cobbler is rich enough...but IF I were going to gild the lily, I'd definitely opt for the real whipped cream or a bit of the heavy cream.

I'm allergic to hydrogenated oil. I can't have Cool Whip.

I have been asking them to find an alternative oil for years & they either can't or won't. Dream Whip has the same ingredients.

zeebaneighba, I think you are right--ChilliAnything is posting an ad. I prefer real cream for coffee and most desserts. Cool Whip does have it's uses--the four-layer dessert you mention, and the peanut butter pie made with cream cheese and Cool Whip. Can you believe my brother-in-law actually prefers Cool Whip for ala mode-type things over cream?

I agree with Tiki. The Gilbert Chemistry Set that I had as a child contained fewer chemicals than Cool Whip does. Why would anyone want to eat that junk when real whipped cream is available?

I'm not saying eat it right of the tub, but you can make some really amazing desserts with it like "Blueberry Dessert" or "Mud Pie" that you can find conveniently on www.CoolWhip.com

Absolutely.

I LOVE whipped cream. I always have real cream in my coffee and an ISI whipper filled with a trigger ready to squeeze.

I don't buy Cool Whip. but I wouldn't throw it out when I found it in my fridge. I froze it and the rest is history.

History hasn't been repeated often.

Have you ever READ THE LABEL!!!!---theres no FOOD in that crap!!! I will stick to my whipped cream thank you---and even if i have to watch my fat intake--i got a gizmo that will whip even skim milk!!---so---mu favorite thing to do with Coll Whip is leave it in the store!

Sorry to sound suspicious, but is this a troll or ad for Cool Whip?

Having said that, I don't really care for it. I'd rather use the good, fattening whipped cream.

The only dessert that I think tastes best with Cool Whip (or other whipped topping) is a "four-layer dessert", as we call it in Kansas. The Sterns have a link to "Blueberry Dessert", AKA a torte in other parts of the country, and they note that you really need to use Cool Whip for it.

I use instant chocolate pudding for one layer, and I make it with a little less milk than called for on the package. It's also very good with lemon pudding/pie filling. I also use powdered sugar in the cream cheese filling rather than regular sugar.

Too many calories...but so wonderful.
